When I was in the Slime Parade (1956), we went to the Rice Hotel downtown.

Stephens gets out of 7th after giving up a single and walk. Up to 105 pitches. 3-0 going to the 8th. Fox and Lemond in the pen.

Given how shaky the pen can be, it would be good to get some more runs.

Ewing gets a knock and slowly ratchets up his batting average.

To the bottom of the eighth with 3-0 Rice lead. Beginning to chew nails. Hmm. Tasty.

Lemond in to pitch the 8th. 8, 9 and 1 hitters coming up.

What a job by Jordan Stephens when we really needed it most.

To the ninth with the Owls leading 3-0. Lemond does the job. 3 outs to go.

Lemond gets 1-2-3 in the 8th. K, easy grounder to Ewing, then grounder through Ewing, backed up by Stringer and thrown to Lemond for the out. 3-0 going to the 9th.

Ahhhhhhhh! 3 quick cups of delicious Lemond-Aid, and we're on to the 9th. 3-0 Owls. Let's go, Rice!

I said that coaches like Graham are too smart to miss that trend. For some reason he didn't pick up on it early.

Why in the world Mason Robbins sees anything in the zone the first two pitches I will never know. Kid would hit .400 with an ounce of plate discipline.

And Ford gets the top of the order off the snide. Single in T9 ends an 0-fer-11 drought for the 1-2-3 Owl batters. Stringer up to attempt to keep the new streak rollin'...

EDIT: And Ford saves Stringer the indignity of another hitless at-bat by getting caught stealing. Top of the order finishes 1 for 12 (with a BB and HBP) through the Owl's first 27 outs. 3 more outs for a win and to knot the series at 1.

Has gametracker always had balls and strikes? They weren't there on my screen for the last series...

Almadenmike and Ranger - Thanks. They are back for this game which is what threw me off.
