Why is ESPN playing video montages as if the BE is dead?
Is not the Big East name still going with the C7 and won't the league continue to thrive for years to come? Am I missing something?

They are being typical ESPN. The tournament wont be with them next year so they act like it's never going to happen again.

They are mad because the Big East is now Fox.

They have finally added "as we know it" to their obituary coverage. I didn't know if I should laugh or scream when they started on "what a shame it was to end like this" "such a storied conference" "tradition and rivalries ruined by greed and chasing the money". ITS YOUR network that played a major part in all this! ESPN is the one offering the "dirty money"

Exactly! Also they always mentioned which BE schools were leaving but when MAryland was plastering Duke or giving UNC a scare late they didn't mention once that the Terps were leaving the ACC.

I think by looking at the makeup of this sig, you have 3 original CUSA schools (Marquette, DePaul, St. Louis), 3 current A10 schools (Dayton, Xavier, Butler), an MVC school (Creighton)... to go along with the 5 remaining Big East schools (...of which, St Johns, Seton Hall, and Providence, have COMBINED for 1 tourney credit in the last 6 years).

It's SILLY to think that ESPN is going to treat the new conference as the old Big East.

Silly talk.

It's simple.

ESPN stops promoting anyone they lose the TV contract for.

They're saying it's the last year of the Big East because once they go to Fox, the Big East is dead to ESPN.

This is basically it. If we made the same moves but signed with ESPN they wouldn't be saying this.

It would be the glorious new Big East! Returning to its roots! Dumping the football schools and strengthening an already strong basketball league!

I would have serious concerns about switching to FOX vs ESPN.

You're giving up SportsCenter. Games can be found on every channel no problem with no loss of visability. But for highlights, EVERY RECRUIT is watching ESPN.

Why is a guy named BigEastHomer trash talking the Big East????

If I were him I'd rip on the America 12, now that's a league ESPN will ignore.

Folks, the Big East (C&) is not being "strengthened. It is losing or has lost UCONN, Syracuse, Pitt, WVU, Louisville, Cincinnati and Notre Dame. The BEast that was the Big East. A cupboard of Seton Halls, Creightons, DePaul's and Xaviers is not going to replace the night-in, night-out war that was the real Big East.

Your are forgetting the curse of bailing on the Big East, for reference check out Boston College and West Virginia post Big East.

Peace out football schools, don't let the door hit you on the way out!

I like how you put Xavier and Creighton in the DePaul/Seton Hall category.

No offense to Blue Demon/Pirate fans, but the basketball performance by X and Creighton the past 10 years or so is above that.

This just sounds like a bitter University of Cincinnati fan.
