Rice may lose to Tulsa, but still wins the West and hosts the championship game against ECU

That's funny...who can keep up with this merry-go-round? Hell, I know I can't....
To OP....don't overlook Rice this year. It just may be their time to shine.
Ok first of all, I read the article that was linked on my OP. Second, Rice is not intimidating and I believe we host you. I will say conference schedule was a little slanted against us. Think we win it though. IMO
Not sure if you are talking to me, but USM doesn't play TU this year.
I believe Rice's backfield will give them opportunities to win more that lose this year.
...that's it
No worries, It was late and I think I was drifting off...They(Rice) have a good backfield, but Tulsa has a better one returning, IMO. Our big power back is gone to graduation but we have a really nice kid who will get more opportunities and will be really good. I think our QB will be more efficient and receivers will be really tough to defend! Our D-Fence will actually be pretty good, even though the D-Line will be new they will be great by the mid season.
You guys have been tough for some time now and there is no reason to expect anything less this year.
Good luck this year!

Most of that seems about right to me.
If LTU goes 9-3 with all they've lost from last years team, Holtz should be COA.

RE: Is Tulsa the favorite to repeat in CUSA next Fall???
Yea I didn't really look into a lot of factors when I picked those the other day. I just basically sat down with the conference schedule and made picks week by week, matchup by matchup until I was finished with the season. As with any preseason prognostication so many things can change between now and the end of fall camp. But I could see UAB winning 4-5 games but that will flip FAU and FIU. I did have you all losing to Troy in the opener though. My initial picks were for UAB to beat NW State and UTSA.

I would say that ECU, Marshall, USM and UAB definitely go bowling fromt he East. In the West, Tulsa is the only one that I am willing to say the same about.
Holtz is a good fit for La Tech, but he will not go bowling his first year.
I predict that the final East standings look like this:
1. ECU
2. Marshall (Tie)
3. UAB (Tie)
4. USM (Tie)
5. Middle TN
6. FIU
Marshall beats USM but loses to UAB. USM beats UAB but loses to Marshall. UAB beats Marshall but loses to USM. It'll be a cluster...
ECU goes undefeated in conference play, beats NCSU and ODU to finish with 10 regular season wins. Truthfully, we should be able to beat VPI... UNC, not so much. They'll be really good.
Granted, there are a lot of unknowns for us, but I think we will go bowling. Lost a lot but still loaded on offense. And the way the defense played, you can't be sad to see all of them go. Hard to be worse than dead last in defense. Our schedule is also very favorable. I see us as competing for division & conference championships at the end of year and no worse than 3rd in West Division and possible 1st.
Welcome to Cusa........I remember when ECU played LT and your football team had Ray Guy and Terry Bradshaw. I will give you a +1 reputation for coming aboard.

The fact that you don't know who Ray Guy played for tends to suggest that you don't know whether this person knows football or not.

Well I promise UCF won't be in the CUSA champ game. I would think Tulsa or Tech in the west. vs ECU, USM(I don't buy them being as bad a last year) or maybe Marshall. East may be wide open.

While I do see S.Miss having a better year zi just can't see them being contenders after 0-12, adding a new coach, and not having a solid QB nailed down yet. 5-7 wins max. Of they get 7+ that would be amazing feat for anyone.

USM has talent no doubt. I just don't see a QB on the roster. Anthony Alford is gone and Ricky Lloyd and Aresino Favor didn't impress me last year. Lloyd was timid and didn't look comfortable at all, he had a hard time reading the different defensive schems. Favor just ran around in the backfield looking like a deer caught in headlights.
I also think everyone at USM lost a year in the weight room. Their SC coach came from the private sector and had never run a SC program before. This was a glaring problem I seen with USM last year next to Johnson's coaching skill. The games I watched USM play last year, they looked as if their agility and stamina was gone about mid way through the 3rd quarter.
If I was a USM fan I would be happy with 5 wins, anything more would be just extra.
This is USMs schedule
Texas State
at Nebraska
at Arkansas
at Boise State
FIU
at ECU
UNT
at Marshall
at LA Tech
FAU
Middle Tenn
at UAB
I could see USM starting the season either 1-3 or 0-4. I think the 1st game with Texas State will tell us a few things about this USM team. I really only see maybe 2 gimmie games and thats the F_Us.

Show me your wins...
This is your schedule:
at New Mexico
OK State
at Arizona
at UTEP
Houston
at Marshall
Rice
UAB
at Tulsa
Tulane
UNT
LA Tech
There are only 2 games that I think you can be competitive in and thats New Mexico and Tulane. You went 8-4 last year with wins over:
South Alabama (IA Trans)
Texas AM-Commerce (DII)
Georgia State (IA Trans)
Northwestern Oklahoma St (DII)
New Mexico St
McNeese St (IAA/FCS)
Idaho
Texas State (IA Trans)
There aren't any gimmies on your schedule at all. And its going to start getting a lil tougher now. Your recruiting was ranked 110 out of 127 IA Schools.

Welcome to Cusa.....I agree good coaching will keep UTSA from being 1-11. ECU returns almost everything on both sides of ball with an outstanding recruiting class plus a new DC (former ECU DB coach during both Cusa Championships) . FYI: ECU tied UCF for first place with a 7-1 (8-5) Cusa record. MU (5-7) could finish second but lost several of its coaches this past season and as we know (ask USM from 12-2 to 0-12 after coaches left for UNC) coaches will make a difference. I think MTSU and USM will be dark horses in East and Tulsa in West with La. Tech and Rice being the dark horses. (Opinion)

I'll grant ECU is the favorite to win the East, but anyone who actually watched the last two ECU/Marshall games...a last second win by both teams on their respective home fields...doesn't know "jack" about football in predicting that everyone else is a long shot. Both teams have lots back from very battle tested teams. The final game in Huntington, may well decide who plays for the championship.
