Create divisions.
Withdraw from NCAA.
Draw up own rules and governing body.
Pay athletes.
Create new post-season playoff structure.
Sign new TV deal.
We still wouldn't get in.

Good point, but NBC Sports Network is paying so little, we do they need to get any lower?

It's all relative, what is the ACC without UNC or Duke?
It's a football conference from there on.

Yep
Consolidation ruins regional & local rivaliries and will ultimately drive a number of programs completely out of the college football business. Its a bit harder to say how it will effect basketball, but the tremendous influx of cash in the hands of 1/4 to 1/8th of college athletic departments will certainly make it much more difficult for the others to compete. In my opinion, anything that drives fans away from college sports is not good for college sports... be it the networks who pay for viewers or the schools who are creating this caste system. Oh, it sounds good now, but ultimately, the product is inferior to professional sports and if thats who these handful of schools are trying to compete, then they'll lose.
