When it comes to Alabama judges and Alabama football players, plenty.

First off, I'm not out for blood. I just thought the "if they should be tried as adults" was idiotic. They can not be tried as anything else. They are of legal age. This is not subject to debate or up for judgement.

Second, when we're talking about Alabama football players, or something that will make UAT look bad, no kind of chicanery would surprise me. The people injured may suddenly decide not to press charges. The number of judges and lawyers in this state with UAT ties is quite large, things could happen.

Speaking of which, I saw a couple of reports of bail at $65k. That's $6500 or more in cash to the bondsman, and more in property bond most likely. I wonder who paid the bail money... I have my doubts about the families involved having that kind of money laying around free. Who is paying for their legal representation? If it is being done pro bono, who is the oh so generous attorney involved?

Yeah, we'll see how it plays out. I don't know if there will be real actual "justice" involved, but we'll see what happens.

I know that the most common reaction I heard from the bammers I work with was "Good thing Saban oversigned all those kids. Wonder when their scholarships will come available?" SEC fans, haaaaaawk ptui!

Very unfortunate occurrence here, to say the least. I heard Stephen A. Smith tear into them yesterday on ESPN. He's a loudmouth, but he was right on this one, don't destroy their lives entirely (they've done that to themselves thus far), but get their attention and deal with them for this.

Alabama's prisons are packed to exploding with thousands of young men whose lives have been destroyed entirely due to crimes for which they've been convicted, but they did not happen to play football for the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa.

I am all for judicious justice and alternative sentencing, but it has to be applied with an even hand whether the individual be white, black or crimson.

It's color that matters the most in this state and I am not talking black or white. It's crimson. This is just an instance that made it public.

The thing is, these guys are semi professional athletes. They are trained to hit and be hit. They are big. They are fast. They are strong. They probably could have just walked up to the guy and got what they wanted. Why beat the hell out of him?

I am all for giving a person a second chance, but I am also all for treating everybody the same. If four of us went and did this(and it really sounds like only 3 were involved in the assault) and we were all first time offenders(or whatever these guys may be) I would want their punishment to be the same as what ours would be.

People want to say athletes represent the university. They want to pay these guys more than they do. Well, right now, these guys are representing that it's not safe to walk around on campus. If I was the coach at any college in the country, and my players did this, the 3 would be kicked off the team immediately. The 4th may or may not get a second chance depending on the details.

Why do you think that the god of discipline is quiet on this one .
I can give you an explanation.
When you take steroid like substance ,,,your mind doesn't work perfectly
Over aggressivity is one of the major side effect.
They dont test football players during off season.
VOILA
KICKING the players off the teams will make them talk ,,,suspension make them quiet ....

I was in the Mexico City airport yesterday looking at the big board with the flight schedules... across the bottom they scroll news. This was one of the top stories. Huh? I couldn't believe this was a top story in the Mexico City airport :)

At least the school got this right. It took a little longer than it should have, but I think this action was 100% necessary.

I think McGee indirectly implied it on the radio yesterday, but once all the facts are known the appropriate decision is almost straight forward.

This is a sad day for Bama Bashers everywhere. How dare they do the right thing.

Story in the fish wrapper quoted one of the victims as saying that it appeared they attacked him just for fun.

You should not kick the players off th team until you have the facts. If you speak with them and they admit they did it them yes you act. In this case they all seem to have admitted to it. If they deny it then you suspend until the investigation is over.

This isn't about football. This is about students mugging other students on campus and robbing them. This is one of those cases where you suspend the guys until the facts play out. They didn't belong on campus again until more facts were established.

Think if a teacher was accused of raping a student... you wouldn't let that teacher back at school until the case played out, right?

I said they should be suspended until the investigation is complete. Reading comprehension is key. If a student accuses a teacher of rape you don't immediately fire the teacher you suspend him. Sometimes it turns out that the accused is not guilty. What happens to the university if they fire someone without any investigation and it comes out later that they were falsely accused then you have a huge lawsuit.

I know you wrote to suspend them, I am capable of reading. I was merely stating that once they were accused of assaulting/robbing students on campus, they had no business being there. I didn't say to kick them off the team or out of school. This was the University's decision, not Nick Saban or Mal Moore's. I was actually impressed that they made it. You have no choice but to keep them off campus until things are sorted out. I was trying to point out that at this point, it had nothing to do with the fact that they were football players, because I would expect any student there accused of this to have the same actions taken against them.

Same goes with the teacher. If you fired somebody every time a rumor swirled around, you would be destroyed by lawsuits.
