I will never understand the pack mentality, how 4 indivduals with nothing but a potential bright future ahead, could all have a meeting of the mind ( conspiracy ) and decide its a good idea to commit a crime, how noone in a group of 4 young men, said no this is not a good idea, I want no part of it and walk away.

Come on you must care about the youth of today, and a society where nothing is wrong or important.
There are plenty of OCS threads here, and this one was what you thought it was when you opened it.
I care about young people throwing their lives away, I care that my family or I may meet one of the young people who throw their lives away.
Its important that society, care about our youth, because if we dont pay attention we will pay now are later, for our disinterest.

Come on you must care about the youth of today, and a society where nothing is wrong or important.
There are plenty of OCS threads here, and this one was what you thought it was when you opened it.
I care about young people throwing their lives away, I care that my family or I may meet one of the young people who throw their lives away.

I usually don't, but I can't find humor in everything, kids robbing, killing, raping and pillaging the village just isn't funny to me.
I always make it personal, and say what if... and but by the grace of God...
There are plenty of funny things out there, but this is not funny to me... or the victim, and I believe the parents of the victim and the suspected players parents dont see humor in ruin lives...But to each his own.
I don't think he's making light of what these guys are accused of doing, but rather some internet message board's reaction to it.

When the victims headache goes away and he realizes that he has lifetime season tickets to Bama football games if he drops the charges, he will be happy.

Deer antler spray isn't cheap.
Trying to stay serious here, but its difficult with deer antlers, and season tickets flying all over the place...
An important descriptive point is that all 4 were freshmen or RS freshmen - new guys to the program and perhaps the first in their families to go to college at all. It is sad that they have apparently squandered their opportunity to improve their lives through a college experience, but we have noted before, a large majority of those athletes who get into these troubles are freshmen or sophomores, almost never juniors or seniors who have internalized the advantages offered to them - in return for their good behavior.
One has to wonder how many times their behavior was covered up in high school based on their athletic prowess and the hopes they would get college scholarships taking them away from their local influences. It should be noted that many more who come from such places don't get into these kinds of troubles than those who do. It indicates to me that the colleges need to make a greater effort to get all new students into counseling to hurry the internalization of understanding what good behavior at college can do for their future.
This kind of problem is not limited to just a couple of schools as we have noted before. It clearly is a problem the schools must address and they have the personnel with which to do it.
