Yep. Even stopped watching SportsCenter for the most part.

"LANCE DO YOU THINK MARVIN LEWIS WILL BECOME THE GM AND WE CAN GET BILL COWHER TO COACH?? THANKS IMMA HANG UP AND LISTEN"

Haha that's dead on right there

Well if the listener's iq is low it says a lot about the host.

sounds to me like Lance McCalister is slowly morphin' into an Andy Furman. Most of us got over that loud mouth that exaggerated any story that he could to try to get callers on his phones.

RE: Tentman challenges Lance McCalister
jeeminy, you think that the callers are bad for Lance, or Mo if he ever takes any, what about the rubes that call in Cunningham so they can be part of his circus?

Have you ever listened to the UK or U of L talk shows? It sounds like Farm Front.

Face it, the people that call these things are just learning their chops so they can shine on the banana phone.

The banana phone (and Reds coverage in general) is a little different. You have the "low information callers" but you also have a lot of Blue Hairs who call totalk to Marty about how they remember when they were in the early 20s going to Crosley Field to watch Paul Derringer and Bucky Waters.

Just a point of clarification: Not many of us "latch onto every perceived slight". Truth is, the beef is with the cumulative amount of these occurrences.

I never see posts that complain about every little thing Lance or whoever has to say. Bill Koch, maybe, but no one else.

I would say it shows there is actually a caring fanbase here, contrary to what the local media would have you believe. If anything it shows how petty and bush league the media is here in Cincy.

There is a caring fanbase here, but there aren't enough of us.
It should be beyond telling when Mo Egger -- supporter of just about all things UC -- tells people (on the air and off it, if you talk to him) that there's just no demand in the market for UC talk.

I just don't agree with this...Mo is wrong. Why do I say that? Because even if it's not a lot, we still get 30K to a football game. That may be small by big time college standards but it's still a LOT of people (at least major league baseball attendence level) and you can't tell me that there aren't more at home listening on WLW or watching on tv so really, it's more than 30K interested any given UC football game. That is plenty of people to listen and call in if there as a show/station dedicated to UC athletics.

Simply put...Mo is wrong here. They keep saying there isn't enough interest and so the lie perpetuates into perception...which is "reality" but, as I've already pointed out with 30K+ people interested in UC football games, it's not really reality. In addition, the would be sponsors, listening over and over to this line also get cold feet when the idea of sponsoring a UC show is brought up. It's a big vicious cycle and the sad thing is, it's BS....

I doubt Mo is wrong. A big part of the problem is some of the brilliant strategists here think the answer is to boycott all the shows that might talk UC sports rather than flood them with calls when they do.

I don't think there is a lack of interest in UC athletics, I think it's a lack of interest in sports talk radio. I'm as big a UC fan as there is, and I have had season tickets since the days of Tony Mason. Twenty years ago I listened to sports talk radio a lot because it was the only venue for any conversation about UC athletics. For me, the internet has replaced sports talk radio. I can't remember the last time I listened to sports talk radio.

The internet allows me to listen to the conversations of others, friend and foe alike without the interference of the less than indifferent hosts such as Lance, Andy Furhman, Bill Cunningham, et.al. Bob Trumpy and Chris Collinsworth were pretty good, but the rest, not so much.

Truth is those shows are boring. Lance talking about things no one cares about. His kid. Where he got to go. Butler. Not even x fans call in.

Mo I'm not sure even gets callers. He's too busy trying to be funny or show off his dry sense of humor or whatever.

I just want some informative talk. Give me Dan hoard and Jim Kelly and Chuck Machock talking UC sports and people would listen and participate.

Lance and Mo try to let controversial comments and off the wall stuff draw listeners. And it sucks.

Go down to SEC country and listen to those shows. Night and day.

No recruiting talk here. Just favorite tv shows. Blah.

So true. I think the self serving notion pushed by the radio hosts in this town that the metric to judge fan interest in a particular sport is directly proportional to the number of calls their show receives is completely false. If I want to discuss UC sports I have friends and co workers who often know a heck of a lot more about what's going on in Clifton than these guys.
If there was a show with real information, I might listen to it. The current stuff which seems to feature trivia about old time AM radio music of the 70s, what their kid did in little league, and pseudo pillow talk with the female producer holds no interest for me.

Yes
And yes.

What it simply boils down to is our local media is just lazy. It actually takes time and energy to do game breakdowns for our college sports. How awesome would it be to have a "football Friday" where they talk bengals, bearcats, uk, UL, Miami, osu. Instead we get 3 hours of bengals talk and not one breath of any college sports. They get a sponsor and hire a former Bengal and let them do all the work.

Moe and lance both are horrible. I listened to moe on signing day and the guy ridding with me in the car made me turn him off. He spent the first 30 minutes of his show telling us nothing. He talked about why he doesn't talk about recruiting etc... My friend said turn this crap off. This guy just talks to hear himself.

Cc will not put any $ into local sports talk. It is a national game now. It is time for Uc to partner up with a local fm station to have more content. UC no longer needs 700 to get the reach that comes with them. In today's day and age you can listen to anything, anywhere online.
