RE: Israeli Jets Blast Arms Shipment Inside Syria
Apparently, Israel received approval from the U.S. to carry out the strikes.

The rich part is that it says the U.S. is prepared to carry out similar strikes to keep the rebels (the same rebels we're supporting) from seizing the weapons.

The best way for a military industrial complex to survive is to start a war, and supply weapons to both sides...

Probably merely a formality as Israel is going to do what's in its best interest with or without the US's "approval".

There's a lot more to this strike or strikes.

http://world.time.com/2013/02/01/the-fal...concerned/ Wrote:If they had been deployed, those SA-17 ground-to-air missiles would intimidated Israeli pilots who now operate over Lebanese airspace with impunity, forcing them to higher altitudes and other operational precautions.
Among the buildings leveled at the military complex at Jamarya, outside Damascus, were warehouses stocked with equipment necessary for the deployment of chemical and biological weapons, relatively complicated systems typically manned by specially trained forces. The lab facilities dedicated to biological warfare were of special concern, given both the damage that can be done by even small amounts of biological agents, and the interest expressed in such weapons by Osama bin Laden’s successor, Ayman al-Zawahiri. No specific armed force was identified as threatening the compound. Intelligence officials said the concern was unconventional weapons “dripping” into control of extremists in the relative chaos of the rebel side.
One Western intelligence official told TIME the U.S. military was poised to carry out similar airstrikes around Aleppo if rebels threaten to take sites associated with weapons of mass destruction in that region.
A Western intelligence official indicated to TIME that at least one to two additional targets were hit the same night, without offering details. Officials also said that Israel had a “green light” from Washington to launch yet more such strikes.

"If tomorrow the IDF (Israeli Defence Force) sees the movement of this weaponry, it will and should strike again," he said. "This week's attack was a kind of warning – 'we are ready and prepared to do this'.
There were also unconfirmed reports that Israeli officials notified not just the American government in advance but the Russians, even though Moscow condemned the raid afterwards. Salman Sheikh, an analyst at the Brookings Institute in Qatar, said the Russians were well aware that weapons they supplied to the Syrian regime were being transferred to Hizbollah.
http://www.jpost.com/Defense/Article.aspx?id=301751 Wrote:Iraqi daily Azzaman quoted a Western diplomatic source as saying Thursday that the alleged Israeli attack on Syria reported on Wednesday caused heavy casualties among special Iranian Guards stationed at the Syrian facility. The source also said that the attack took place more than 48 hours before it was reported, eventually being leaked by Israel.
The source also said that the base was heavily fortified and contained experts from Russia and at least three thousand Iranian Revolutionary Guards, who have been guarding the site for years. Many of these Iranian Guards suffered casualties
http://news.yahoo.com/syrian-rebels-slam...10880.html Wrote:Syrian opposition leaders and rebels on Friday slammed President Bashar Assad for not responding to a rare Israeli airstrike near Damascus, calling it proof of his weakness and acquiescence to the Jewish State.
The opposition's sharp reaction underlines how those seeking to topple the Syrian leader might be more prepared to tangle with Israel if they came to power.
http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/why-did...sCatID=352 Wrote:"Why didn't the Syrian Army, which has been attacking its own innocent people for 22 months now from the air with jets and by land with tanks and artillery fire, respond to Israel's operation? Why can't al-Assad, who gave order to fire SCUD missiles at Aleppo, do anything against Israel?" Davutoğlu said. Davutoğlu said they did not know the precise circumstances of the raid but added that Turkey would not stay unresponsive to an Israeli attack against any Muslim country.
Israel is about to face the possibility of mustard gas raining down into Tel Aviv and facing Egypt, Syria, Jordan (if it falls next), and Turkey armies when it retaliates, and it would have to retaliate in a massive way. The possibility of Turkey getting involved would be a problem for NATO, and would be a real problem for the US. Luckily, Obama's bestest friend in the world is the PM of Turkey.

Iran reportedly refuses Assad request to hit back at Israel | The Times of Israel
http://www.timesofisrael.com/iran-report...at-israel/ Wrote:Syria’s President Bashar Assad asked Iran to hit back at Israel on its behalf for a reported air strike, an Israeli TV report said Monday night, but the Iranians told him, “You need to take care of your business.”
No need for us to retaliate for airstrike, says Syria | The Times of Israel
http://www.timesofisrael.com/no-need-for...ays-syria/ Wrote:Syria’s defense minister said Sunday his country had no need to respond militarily to last Wednesday’s reported Israeli airstrike on his country, since the Israeli attack was itself a retaliation. Israel, he claimed, was hitting back against the regime for its successes in the ongoing battle against what he said were Israel-backed Syrian rebels.
Syria typically doesn't respond to Israeli strikes against its WMD operations because it would put too much light on the fact that they were producing WMD and violating treaty obligations. This time, it looks like the Iranians told them to **** off. Yet, I'd expect another bus of Israeli tourists or some Temples to be attacked or somewhere in the world in short order. Possibly Argentina, since they are now ******* of the Iranian regime.
