I understand why they dont want to call it a Rivalry, I mean with the domination we've laid on them with an all time 8-3 record in Football I wouldnt want to admit it either. 05-stirthepot

Seriously, FIU fans need to stop having a man crush on UM and embrace FAU as thier main rival we are once again in the same confrence and compete head to head for the same recruits.

Stop being afraid of it and welcome it.

Hey, he's agreeing with your earlier point, and still you bash him...01-lauramac2

At any rate, that's one point FIU Panther Fan and I disagree over the years, although he always bring some pretty good analysis in terms of facts and attendance. Still, you are wrong to paint a whole fan base as you are doing, since many of us do believe it is, and are beginning to not like FAU....Of couse, not with the obsession you guys have with anything FIU05-stirthepot

I do find it odd and untimely that even though FIU did a great deal of pulling for FAU, this game will be played in Boca for the second consecutive year, rather than down in Miami.

TBH I thought it was strange too, but then again this whole thing has been strange. I'm sure all sorts of compromises had to be done.

Take care of our trophy, we will revoke your hold on it next year. 03-nutkick

Agree with your point. I guess we will have to go to Boca again and beat you in consecutive years....04-cheers

On that note, do we need to send down our equipment truck for your guys' crap again, or will you have yours fixed by then? 05-stirthepot

You guys SG needs to get heavy into it and make it happen. Thats how FAU did it with you guys. Our SG pushed and pushed the FAU vs FIU games in Football and Basketball as an "EVENT". They promote them, have rally's and Tshirts printed. 24 hour tailgate last year. Eventually the students bought in and now the incoming students see they hype around it and buy in. Both our schools potentials are sky high, and we need each other to maximize.

I just told my fraternity that we're hosting FIU again and they went into the frenzy. It was a mix of "**** FIU!!" And "Let's ******* rage!!"
Honestly, hating a school is too much fun. It gives us a real college, first choice feel that FSU and UF have, that FAU and FIU lack.

Any of you Marshall or Tulane fans coming to Boca this year?

I plan on going. I also plan on going my two TU roommates and their wives. Add 6 to the attendance rolls.

Attendance blows at both our places TBH.

I was talking more about the students and buzz on campus. Out of that 9K, 4K was students. FAU is pushing to get the students involved more, which forms the groundwork of the fan base. Dont make me find the picutre of your student section for that game on ESPN during the 3rd quarter with about 200 there and half of that the band. 03-nutkick

Thats what I want FIU to do. Give your students fuel for the fire like FAU has done.

Find it, it doesn't matter. FIU students will come when we win and give them a good product on the field.

Though I can't guarantee that they'll go to the fau game.

P.S. Don't make me break out the photo of the 2nd half of your storied attendance day, including your student section.

What good is the hype and the buzz if it doesn't translate to better attendance numbers? By the way, I purposely took pictures of our last game just for the delusional FAU fans. Believe me, you have nothing to brag about. The stadium is gorgeous though but your attendance was abysmal. I guess that's why I don't quite understand why FAU keep referencing to this game.

Because your looking at one game. FAU is looking long term.

Get the students involved and into athletics and they will become fans for life. They will want to come back after they graduate and donate to the school because they remember fondly the good times had at games. Our attendance issues stem from the fact that 95% of our alumni base did NOT have a program around to build memories on. Both of us have only had football for 11 years and only playing "big boy" football for 6 of that. So we JUST now have Alumni that are landing on there feet and in a position to give back who had athletics as a big part of thier time at our schools. The only cure for that problem is time, but you have to lay the groundwork while they are in school.

Neither of us draws flies from the general public. We're just too young. Even this move for both of us to CUSA will not drastically increase attendance for our games. I think it will help some and be better then SBC teams draws but it's not going to be huge. To get these people in will take winning. And by winning I mean winning BIG OOC games, and consistently for 3-5 years.

You mean the game where it rained for the majority of the game and there was an almost 1 hour lightning delay?

Anyway, don't you think it's sad that your fellow FIU fans aren't more into the rivalry? If you can't get up for a conference opponent that is located 40 minutes away from you, what game are you getting up for? It's time your school to embrace this.

What you're saying makes complete sense and I agree. However, only time will tell how good our efforts have been in present day. I guess my issue with FAU fans is that you guys come across as if you're already reaping the benefits of your efforts when you are not. At least not yet. Maybe you guys should wait until you're constantly averaging 30K+ every year before talking smack to us about attendance. FAU has no advantage over FIU when it comes to attendance. As a matter of fact, our attendance have been better for the past 3 or 4 years.

RE: FAU Schedule
Reaping the benefits in greater OVERALL attendance and more cash, well except for basketball, I agree, it's minimal.
We do get a sense of pride, raised school spirit, and have a damn good time. For newer schools like us, that's not easy to come by, and I'm proud of that.
Just compare our basketball games against each other from the past 3 years. Our teams have been on the same level for the most part since then, FAU with a slight edge in the 2010-2011 season. While FIU only a few students go, most leaving early, FAU students are tailgating before the game, packed to the roof, wall-to-wall at the Burrow, and sing and chant after the game is over. You don't think over time that will make a difference?

Again, you're conveniently choosing to compare one particular sport during one specific season. We are discussing overall attendance. I simply don't understand why you guys would even bring this subject up considering how terrible your attendance numbers are. I have yet to read a post from any FIU fan boasting on attendance in any way. That's because we are well aware of our problem. Notice that not even after our 2011 season when we had a good turn out with several games completely sold out, not once we boasted on attendance. We understood that it was all due to the fact that we were having a winning season and not because we have a great following. FAU fans need to stop being delusional.
