As a Troy fan, you do realize that if CUSA goes to 18, you are screwed and will be an independent?

If CUSA goes to 18 teams, Troy will probably be in. Only way they wouldnt is if no one left CUSA from its current alignment.

CUSA has 14. Lose 1 and they pull 5 from SB to get to 18. Which 3 from SB are screwed? ULM, USA, and one of the following: Troy, TX St, GA St

I'm also a little tired of your assumption that USA and the others are automatically screwed. Mobile is right behind New Orleans in market size and South Alabama has a very good history in athletics. Football is new, but it's already completed it's transition to FBS and has shown great potential.
The others all have selling points of their own - Ga St has market, Troy has a great football track record, solid baseball and a new basketball arena, and ULM, despite it's budget issues, has made some noise on the field. Maybe we all find ourselves in a stable conference and no more FCS teams ever get invited.

I don't know the source of it, but I've repeatedly heard the claim USM would never affiliate with Troy. USA I've never heard that about and last time I checked they are in the home of a well run bowl game that is among the best regarded for how it treats players, coaches wives, and fans.

I think any assumption that USA wouldn't be in the hunt is ill-founded given that CUSA is losing its top bowl.

I am a Georgia Southern Fan who would just like to know. I understand that there is several months before a decision has to been make by the SunBelt. I for one do not think that not announcing a move up to the SunBelt has hurt recruiting for Georiga Southern for this year because don't you think that the coaches are telling the recruits that they expect to be FBS with in the near future. All that we are doing is waiting on the invite that could come within the next few days or months.

Georgia Southern Fans:

Be Patient, Texas State has gone through this situation. The main thing you guys should have going forward would be facility improvements in place, increased budget plan set, marketing plans set and communication ready to go when something happens. There is nothing else you can do to speed this process up. Ruffling the feathers of potential new conference partners is not a good thing to be doing at this stage. UNT was influencing others to block our entry into the SBC. The WAC had to come along and offer an invite to expedite our FBS move up.

Damn. That derailment didn't last long.

Was hoping to keep the thread off of "LET MEEE INNNNNN" from FCS fans for awhile.

TROY would get into CUSA before a couple current SBC teams.
Only real thing holding us back is our market. Which is larger than Ga Southerns or Monroe's.
We have a Strong football track record. Best track record in the SBC.
Strong Baseball
One of the best facilities in the conference.

Has he ever devoured a human being?

An occasional cheerleader or pom pom, but it's all in good fun.

Of course an organized crime group would say that.

A vicious monster, he is, no?

Yes, and so is the mascot in this photo.

What good will it do?
We can only go where we are wanted. CUSA is full of Texas schools for the time being, so until UTSA/UTEP/Rice leave there is no reason to invite us. MWC rumors have said they wanted back in Texas. However, they currently have 12 members with Boise and SDSU's return. Would they want to go above 12? Who would come with us to make 14?
nBE is not going to take us, I think UTSA/UTEP/Rice all have better chances of that one.

So we just sit here and wait for our number to be called.

Most Georgia Southern Fans know that opposing fans think GaSo fans are A-holes. It comes with the mentality of expecting to beat the dog Sh!t out of who even the Eagles play each and every week.02-13-banana

If GaSo joins the SunBelt this mentality will not change. Will winning after a move up come as easy as more GaSo fans feel it will, by no means, but the fans will still expect to win until shown otherwise.

Threads like this are starting to get the ire of a good amount of SBC fans around the board. I am not saying that GSU, App State, and Liberty fans are not welcome to post on this board, but when multiple pages of a thread are taken up by members of teams that are not currently in the conference, I will start shutting threads down, just as I am going to do with this one.
