RE: First Power Rankings
Having 0-2 Western ahead of 2-0 Toledo is a bit of a head scratcher, considering Toledo's impressive road win at Kent State.

RE: First Power Rankings
The MAC is just so weak this year...hopefully our top teams will start to play more consistently now that we're in MAC play.

RE: First Power Rankings
I mentioned this on the Stampede. At this point, it's best to swap Toledo and Kent. I don't know how one can justify Kent being #3 when Toledo went their and won.

I can't punish Western too much for playing the conference's two best teams.
And I didn't think in terms of "Toledo vs Kent." Looking at things on the whole, I think Kent is better even with the Toledo win. That can obviously change.

RE: First Power Rankings
But on that same note, you punish Toledo by not punishing WMU. I know Western started the conference season off with the two toughest teams, but one game wasn't competitive, and the other is a home loss. That shouldn't justify putting them ahead of Toledo, when the Rockets have taken care of business against two good teams (well, maybe one...CMU looked terrible yesterday).
I don't see the rationale when Toledo went to Kent and beat them by double digits. If Kent is better than Toledo, they should beat them at home.

There's always going to be one or two beefs with a power ranking. I appreciate JSF's work. At the very least, it gives us something to chat about. Keep it up!

Well, let's see - tonight is Toledo at WMU. We'll find out.
Like polls, power rankings are opinion, and conversation starters.

RE: First Power Rankings
Thanks for having our backs, Eagle. I'm not worried about JSF's placement of the Rockets because it is early in the MAC season and Kent could have just had a bad night at home. Rockets are in the second to last year of figuring out who they are and I think they are going to continue gaining confidence. They aren't going to be anything "great" this year but I so can not wait until next year. We have an abundance of talent finally coming into Savage next year that will be able to play. Unfortunately though it will be Pierson's last season. We will need to find his replacement soon.
I don't have any qualms about his rankings and the orders. Although NIU is last for obvious reasons, I think you can see that they have improved since last year. Last year they were about 5 from the bottom in all of college basketball and this year they have been competitive with UMass, Akron, and a handful of other teams.

We've completed our inspection of the MAC West cellar. All's well. Can we leave now?

Campbell did you lose a bet or do you really root for Bama, OSU, and Toledo?

RE: First Power Rankings
Those rankings are about right. Each team within three spots of where they should be. I think when Toledo plays well, they can be the best in this conference... but they are as predictable as flipping a coin. The Rockets beat 9-3 UIC, then two days later lost to 3-9 Chicago State. I know Toledo has the play makers to beat Akron, OU, and Kent State. Let's face it...they did beat Kent by 12 on the road. But they WILL lose games to NIU, EMU, Buffalo, or whoever you consider the bottom MAC teams. I don't think Toledo will beat WMU in zoo, but they can if they play well???
I don't think my analysis makes anyone feel better about the rankings done by JSF haha.

No, I'm actually not a fan of Alabama or OSU.
That is there because after posting my frustrations of the season and losing to Ball State and the narrow wins over marginal teams, I was told by some complacent Toledo fans that if I wanted to root for a team that wins, I need to become an Alabama or OSU fan. That pissed me off so I figured that I'd oblige them on the screen. Since putting it up, I've been negative rep'ed so I figure I'm returning the favor. I can only name 5 players total between the two teams.
Yeah, it's juvenile but I was annoyed at the time.

RE: First Power Rankings
BTW, it seems to be a consensus of some EMU fans that we will go as far as our FROSH PG, Jalen Ross, takes us.
He started as a 'pass it around the perimeter PG", then started to develop a "stop and pop" shot in the lane and then against CMU seemed like he started playing like a 2nd semester SOPH, who can now 'drive and dish' thereby making his biggies play 100% better.
