Basically same situation, but he said the complete opposite from what he said about us. David Pollack actually made sense for once and I think Kirk was dumbfounded at the outcome.

There IS some good to come from his hate of NIU...you can't BUY that kind of publicity. Just can't. It HELPS us.

Cancel your cable TV/Dish package which have ESPN/2/U/ect. Then they don't get your money and give it to the bigger programs.

I no longer have cable of any kind...though I do have AT&T internet which gets ESPN3.com so I still do have some money going to them.

Or saving money, spending more time doing things other than watching crap on cable and NOT giving ESPN about $10 each month (is you have ESPNU and access to ESPN3.com)

There are a ton of free/lower cost options to watch TV programs or sporting events.

I don't have a cable package except the very basic so I don't have any ESPN channels, but I can get ESPN3.com. Many of the games are blacked out when the game is going on, but the replay is available shortly after. Kinda sucks but it's cheap.

I hate even thinking about Herbstreit's comments but in a sad way I feel like he won, and in some respects he damaged the NIU football program and the image of the program. He started something that seemed to catch on like wildfire with a select group of media. In my mind I hate thinking this, but I wonder if the image of NIU was helped or hurt from the experience. I think it is shameful and disgraceful what some of the media (Herbstreit, Pollack, Palmer, Dodd, Forde) and especially ESPN did to the Huskies. I don't know how they can live with themselves preying on collegiate student-athletes, it is one small step better than kicking a cat or hitting a child. All these kids do is sacrifice their lives to the sport they love on a year round basis, and no student athlete should have had to endure that type of personal attack ESPN put out. I am so proud of the Huskies and what they accomplished and it just makes me speechless that they had to endure the attacks that they did. What makes me even more sick is that we are prostituted out the next X number of years to the same people that smeared us. Kudos to guys like Rozner, Haugh (never thought Id be saying that) for having some integrity

There was a TON of media response to the NIU bashing by ESPN. A TON. The Wall Street Journal even wrote about us and said we deserved to be in the Orange Bowl. Lots & lots was written because of ESPN's response...and I still say that got us a lot more exposure than we otherwise would have had.

I do agree that it was wrong of them...and I still don't like that they bashed us but we are a lot more "famous" because they did. So we might as well roll with it and use it to our advantage.
