Of course waited until the end of the game to run his mouth again on twitter:

"Come on NIU, win and make herbstreit cry,
His Reply: We all cried, waste of 4hrs"
Lol. What a dick.

Seriously?

Thing is, I used to like Herbstreit (or at least tolerate him). But even though I understand the network wants to kiss up to their bread n' butter audience - that is, BCS bandwagon followers - that on-air meltdown and these constant hissy fit barbs are tiring.

While FSU was the stronger team, it was a 1-possession game as the 4th quarter started. Did he cry during last year's Orange Bowl when WVU was up 4 TDs at halftime and went on to win 70-33? Did Clemson "not belong"?
I agree with u guys I have just never seen the world rail against an underdog like they did for NIU
lol. Herbstreit said we "didn't belong." The joke is on him.

Purdue? They didn't belong.
Rice? They didn't belong.
Navy? They didn't belong.
UCLA? They didn't belong.
Fresno State? They didn't belong.

NIU through three quarters? They belonged. Joke is on him. (Actually the joke is on his wife and kids for believing in him as a human.)

+1
The rant against NIU was prejudice against a smaller school and totally uncalled for.
In an America where we believe in fairness and support the underdog, his rant did not belong.
Well done NIU for uniting together and supporting an incredible group of young men who have brought pride, glory and great publicity
to NIU. We salute their incredible year and performance on and off the football field.

Herbstreit is not man enough to admit he was wrong.

+1. Used to think he was ok too. I just don't understand why he would put us down. If it was for ratings, why would he say that after the game?

Couple of plays and we're still in the game in the 4th quarter.

One thing that came out of it. A lot of support from other mid-major teams and general college football fans. Most people see the problems with the current BCS system and the $ discrepancies between the BCS conferences and the rest of FBS teams. And they appreciate when an underdog team plays as a team and can be competitive with the BCS teams.

What can be done to financially hurt ESPN for keeping Herbstriet on the air and spewing his hate for the little guy?

03-idea I think there's some Soap commercial he's in. ( Or maybe it's make-up )

Anybody know? I'd be happy to boycott the product and/or send off a nice email to corporate...
Would be easier to directly attack Herbstreit then ESPN.
Give us Herbstreit's twitter account and another account and we will flood it with our oppinion
on his inappropriate rant against NIU.
Someone should get an online petition started.
If we have access to Herby's email, every-time a smaller school is able to overcome the tremendous odds of lack of TV contract revenues, disparity in coaches salary we flood his email. Eventually he will be rational and recant.

He's in a Dove soap commercial. Also did a Discover commercial before. He also has some commercials with Allstate and their affiliation with college football. I saw some old posts from last year where he said Virginia Tech didn't deserve to be in a BCS bowl game. But he didn't show his hatred like he did for NIU. He also seemed to have a lot of favorable publicity before the BCS show this year.
I submitted an email to ESPN after the BCS show and they responded with an email that they will forward it to the appropriate people. The appropriate people must not have looked through the garbage can.
An online petition will have the positive impact of uniting NIU students, faculty, alumni and fans.
Also will increase interest in NIU FB. Attacking companies with associations with Herbstreit may or may not be the way to go.
The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

Let the baby have his bottle. There was a time when Herbstreit woud not even acknowledge the existance of NIU, now he goes out of his way to cut down the Huskies. I look forward to next season, where for every Huskie accomplishment, someone will inevitably press Herbstreit for an opinion.

What do you think about the Huskies now, Kirk?

The Huskies will be a bigger thorn in Herbstreit's side than he is to the Huskies.
He's Herb Kirkstreit to me. Silly yeah, but I feel better.
It is always better to be hated than ignored. Id rather be asked to leave than be banging at the window begging to get in.
I have a hard time with him as well, he is the biggest ass clown on TV. At least with Lee what you see is what you get, he is fun, idiot, and hard to take what he says seriously. Kirk reminds me of the never done anything, rich spoiled kid, says what most of the ACC SEC wants to hear garbage. He adds no value and I am afraid I will see him in an airport one day and verbally lay into him. Horrible that people think he is an expert and his words come straight from the mouth of God. You have to be a huge tool/idiot to not (in anyway) pull for the underdog. He is forgetting or never learned that America loves the underdog. A lot to be said for the little guy battling the giants of the world. Sorry, Kirk is sh*t in my book.
