Interesting. Never met the guy myself, he did seem kind of like a politician giving a speech at the WMU press conference. But a lot of coaches sound kinda like that when they're first introduced.

7 sounds like an embittered ex wife--and PJ was your hero who you thought should have the NIU job before DD was hired...how did that work out for you, 7? My concern then, and verified by his behavior since including this manic press conference is that he lacks maturity.....

I think that's just his personality. I can easily see him speaking before thinking some, but honestly, I think that's more his personality and he'll always be that kinda guy. How cool/unique/inspiring it is vs immature/wtf depends on his success as a coach.
As one (NIU) poster in the comments of a Yahoo AP article about him being brought in -- he thinks he's not ready to be HC if he admitted not being really ready to be OC a year or so ago... but give him 2 years to get himself situated & to learn and he'll do great.
I agree with what that poster said -- and that's kind of what I should expect to see -- the first couple years showing his naitivity as a HC. Having it be the first year could be one thing, because that's going to be an adjustment anyway... but an extra year, not something to like. BUT if he does turn out to be a great coach and STAY for many years, then I'm fine with that.
