Final 2012 college football TV ratings in Houston
As I suspected, the SEC and Big 12 own the Houston TV market. The SEC finished 1st with an average rating of 2.8, the Big 12 finished 2nd with an average rating of 2.36, OOC games ranked 3rd with an average rating of 1.68, the Big 10 finished 4th with an average rating of 1.48, the PAC 12 finished 5th with an average rating of 1.1, the Big East finished 6th with an average rating of .567 and CUSA finished last with an average rating of .216.

RE: Final 2012 college football TV ratings in Houston
This is great stuff and I printed it out and put it in my file. Thanks for making this available to us.
As I look at this data, I just wonder how Nbe, and, most of their "consulstants," were spouting these high payout figures per school? Just how stupid can one get?

Yes, it was...barely.....
It beat out ND vs. an unranked 7-4 USC team by 100,000 viewers nationwide.
"CBS Sports’ national coverage of the SEC Championship game on Saturday, Dec, 1 (4:00-8:00 PM, ET), which saw Alabama defeat Georgia, 32-28, delivered a 9.8/20 preliminary national average household rating/share, up 34% from last year (7.3/15; LSU-Georgia).
The 9.8/20 for Alabama-Georgia is the highest rating for a college football game during the 2012 regular season ( Notre Dame at USC – 9.4/16; 11/24/12; ABC).
The 2012 SEC Championship averaged 16.2 million viewers, also making it the most-watched college football game of the 2012 regular-season( Notre Dame at USC; 16.1 million; 11/24/12; ABC)."

Thinking long-term; looks like UH - Tulane could grow into a rivalry. At least there's a little interest there. UH and ECU have some possibilities moving forward. I'm suprised at the lack of interest between UH and SMU. That is dismal; especially for in-state schools.
All three of those games were played on the same network, so it's more of an apples-to-apples comparison.

Awesome Info, what about the SBC, MAC, WAC? :)
Any non HBCU FCS games? I'm interested in what the Georgia Southern / Old Domion game will pull tomorrow on ESPN.

Not quite. The SMU game was on a Thursday night. Even I ROFLed and turned away from that trainwreck...and that wreck was one of those I couldn't take my eyes off of!

The info came from the Houston Chronicle for Houston only. The MAC Championship game, Boise and 2 La. Tech games were on there but I didn't include them on the list because of the small sample size.

I imagine at least part of this is a reflection of the different channels the different conference games are primarily shown on. SEC mostly on CBS and ESPN. Big 12 mostly Fox & ABC. Meanwhile CUSA mostly relegated to FSS and CSNH, basically channels you have to be purposefully searching for.

Can you imagine the UH trolling possibilites if jml2010 and tallgrass would simply combine their efforts? Bravo!

Well, the Astros and Rockets are on CSN Houston, so I'm pretty sure Houston sports fans would check it when looking for a game to watch. Fox Sports Southwest used to be Fox Sports Houston, which used to have the Astros and Rockets. So, not an excuse. It's not like either channel is some obscure thing that people don't have on their cable systems, or is tucked away somewhere between Filipino soap operas and QVC.
