I have been saying all along a comment like this is why we think we are big time and want to be in theory but at the end of the day no one is willing to really invest in it, they just want to ***** about what isn't happening. If FedEx doesn't pick up the bill for us, it doesn't happen.

RE: Anyone have facilities update?
There is actually alot going on behind the scenes. The largest current athletic project, the New Women's Athletics Training Facility, is being built right now. The existing track is also being completely redone right now.

All you have to do is drive the south campus to see all the improvements yourself. Lots to be excited about for our Tigers!

RE: Anyone have facilities update?
Can we please stop the constant infighting. Regardless of who our AD is does not matter. We have got to get off our A$$ES and get this done. There are programs with far less resources building IPF's (see ASU) . If this is going to be another excuse for the reason something does not get done for football then do not complain when we get passed up by the likes of Tulane or Temple. It will be our fault and we will have no one to blame for the eventual downfall of our atheletics but ourselves.

Let's not derail the thread. This is about a facilities update. I cannot wait to see the field house renovation complete. The weight room and track look very nice. Will probably all transfer to the vollyball team once the new men's practice facility is complete and the women move into the finch.

Our AD is doing a great job and cleaning up a very messy situation.

We had to bring our outdoor track up to specs for the conference. Our track was a disaster and wasn't even up to specs to hold a sanctioned meet. We have recently received a $2M+ grant to resolve that problem.

Prioritizing the projects: I've heard the football support building will be built early on. It will get the coaches offices and staff over to the South Campus. Where they need to be full-time. We have a lot to accomplish to be ready for the Big East.

The amount of money raised for the IPF has dropped with RC's departure. I don't think it is that people pulled out pledges as much as we were perhaps counting birds in the bush that weren't in the hand.

There is a lot going on with a reorganization of job descriptions and direction that needs to be done in order to improve our fund-raising ability, and the departments ability to function. You will start to hear about the TRUE BLUE SOCIETY. It's a new group that is targeted toward folks that will probably never be ambassadors.

Been waiting to see how someone will try to spin things. Truth is his heavy handed management style has rubbed a few people the wrong way. Expect to see donation level stagnate if not drop.
So, Nancy Negative, are you dropping your TSF contribution because of Tom Bowen? If so, we will miss you (not). Hope you like being a black bear or wherever you end up, as long as it is not here. I'm fairly sick of your incessant carping.

I make a moderate contribution each year myself and I am planning to give the same or more, because I think that Bowen is the shot in the arm that the program needs to replace RCJ.

Let's review again the reason given for the suspension of the gift in kind program. NOT that there were irregularities, but there was not enough CONTROL of the process. There is a repeating pattern of his obsession toward getting total and complete control of everything. It doesn't seem as if anything wrong is going on just that he does NOT HAVE CONTROL OVER IT. His pattern of behavior since taking over has total control freak written all over it.

Something I certain your aren't used to is ACCOUNTABILITY. Tom Bowen is ACCOUNTABLE for every dime that comes into or out of that building. That's why there are auditors there, and they are headed to STCC next.

If you can get your head out of RC's lap long enough you need to figure out that the days of playing fast and loose with money that FANS put in the athletic department is O-V-E-R.

I am excited that there is someone over there that is "heavy handed" and a "control freak". If little ******* want to get their panties in a wad and stop donating because someone is watching the money more closely, then GTFO.

Your little theory doesn't hold much weight considering that most people that donate are shrewd business people that WANT to know where their money is going and being spent.

He should be in 100% total control, because he is 100% accountable. If the little ******* at the AOB don't like it, then they too can pound sand.

Our athletic department has a BOSS.

It's about damn time.

isn't the director of the athletic department supposed to have complete control over his department?

Strategic plan has an aerial photo of the campus with all the planned facilities noted on it.

RE: Anyone have facilities update?
I work in the Fieldhouse right next to all that damn construction happening right now for women's athletics and I spoke to the head man the other day because the demo crew messed up my office. He proceeded to tell me everything on deck that he'll be working on in the upcoming years including a new softball facility, soccer stadium/field, (hopefully) a new men's basketball practice facility as well as some details for the current construction going on in FH (glass walls, etc). All mostly starting in 2014 as he did mention his schedule was busy as hell right now and will be for quite some time. I know it's nothing too specific but it was nice coming from someone in the know.

IPF was moved to 7 from 1 on order of facility projects, behind even bb indoor practice facility. Most due to gender equity, not all.

RE: Anyone have facilities update?
soccer WILL move to south campus. fuente WANTS the football office/dining hall annex to the murphy center #1 above all else. my impression of things is that the staff is of the opinion that the weather here makes an IPF not a necessity but something eventually needed just because everyone else is building one. again, thats just my interpretation of things. title IX is driving the facilities bus right now - softball by law SHOULD have had a similar building that baseball got 3 years ago. title IX is driving the replacement of the finch center (which while still a very nice facility is actually is 10 years behind the times now to be honest). folks have got to put the IPF in its proper spot in the needs list. it will happen, but some other stuff must come first.

RE: Anyone have facilities update?
I believe updates to the campus master plan will be presented at this Aug's Vision Forum. If so, I'll share the bullet points. I actually agree with Fuente's request. Just disappointed IPF is falling victim to Title IX issues. If FB is going to drive the bus, the dollars need to be directed where we can make the biggest impact. We don't have the same deep pockets of major BCS. I think IPF is a show piece for recruiting. If done correctly, it can be used by other sports for practice, recruiting, and other "events."
