Wku has a lot of things going for it. First, Middle is likely to actually push for them in realignment. Second, geography helps them with Middle, Charlotte, Marshall, and uab within driving distance. Lastly, they have the best basketball history of any team available for them, and at some point, CUSA needs to consider basketball strength.
Louisiana on the flip side has the best fan support in football and basketball, an emerging football program, and a loyal fan base. Sadly, we're saddled with state restrictions on our athletic budget, are in a state that CUSA is already in, and face likely behind the scenes opposition from La Tech and Rice.
Don't forget Baseball attendance. We are consistantly in the top 20 in the nation in Baseball attendance and without a doubt have lead the Sun Belt in attendance for 15 years or so.
I went all the way back to 1999 and Louisiana-Lafayette was in the top 20 in attendance only one time. They were ranked #20 in 2003. Otherwise it's a scatter of ranks in the 20's to 40's. That doesn't sound like being a consistent top 20 team in attendance to me.
This is what I like to see, people doing research. +2 to you, Mr. Maroo.
well- I would like to think the cajuns would stick around. as a uta fan I am happy to be in a conf. with them..just sayin if c-usa is trying to upgrade..the cajuns should be on their radar because them and stAte are the closest programs to the big time that are left both in fact and in perception by the average fan out there. wku makes middle happy but how much pull do they have. If the belt could hang to what's here now, could be a pretty good conf. let middle and wku play ooc games against each other. keep u-laf and stAte and build on that..maybe uta will eventually restart football and all will be happy.

You keep saying this "fact and perception" statement as if it changes your opinion from being just your opinion.

well you're welcome to conduct a national poll to determine which of those schools have ever been heard of by the typical sports fan out across the country..

Best Buddies Forever!
I Love it. Somebody should photoshop ASU, ULL, ULM, and Troy shirts on them. That would be awesome.
Why would someone do that? They are Jag fans!
Yes I know I'm not the best photoshopper in the world.

USA should be included.... They are a founding member of the conference. Yes they are new to football but the other sports they have excelled in. And I doubt they will fail in football.

Will USA, GA St, or TX St be worthy of replacing WKU as a "core" member of the SBC later today? I think all three will grow into very respectable programs.

To the greater public, if the 4 horsemen keep winning, nobody (see SEC fans) will know the difference in who else is in the conference but they will recognize your school's names from before. I hope the 4 horsemen stick together.

Thanks BR, but Please don't put us in that boat . . . the kind of "core" these guys are talkin' about clearly means puttin' in some time, and workn' together as a group to raise the perception of the Conference. We haven't been around (the Belt) long enough, nor have we made any on-field contribution to make us "core" worthy . . . yet!

Going down the tubes together is a terribly romantic notion but not very realistic. All four would cut each others throats to get out of the SunBolt. That is except for ULM. They seem rather happy to be here.
