RE: Bowl Confirmations.
Buffalo is better than CMU. Honestly I hope they don't make it. It's a guaranteed loss for the MAC. We know they're the 70th best team...
Cut our losses. OU can beat some teams bowl eligible, but before seeing the matchups the OU game and whoever goes to the Potato bowl will be the only teams not favored... a BCS bowl we would be dogs too. 5-1 in MAC play would be great.

I agree a 6 - 6 MAC team might be an embarrassment to an otherwise very strong bowl field for the MAC.

I've always felt that the optimal number of MAC bowl teams is the number who have reasonable chances of victory.

Once more, I have it from a good source it is a strong possibility Ohio-Ole Miss in the BBVA Compass Bowl & may be close to a done deal.

Jacob Corrigan ‏@Jacob_Corrigan
One of the interesting propositions for Ohio is the long layoff and possible return of some previously injured players. Still waiting conf.

http://www.bobcatattack.com/messageboard...&PID=91319

From the sound of it, Ohio is leaning toward the BBVA vs. Ole Miss.

That matchup at face value is kind of a surprise but Ohio isn't in the mix for any of the MAC sponsored tie-ins (even if KSU or NIU go BCS) and the January 5th start time is appealing because Ohio may be able to recover from injuries to the point of making this a competitive game.

NIIU would like to have an opportunity to shop for a different bowl destination after playing in Boise and Mobile the last couple of years:

Either La Tech or Ole Miss would be great opponnets for Ohio. Ohio has played Southern Miss, Marshall, Troy, and Utah State in bowls under Solich. Either of these teams would be an exciting opponnet. Even if we are overmatch its a great chance to prepare for next year. Ohio opens @Louisville next year. Hope Solich can refocus his team and finish on a high note.

Well Buffalo's losses are to 11-1 Georgia, 5-6 Pitt, 11-1 NIU, 11-1 Kent State, 8-4 Ohio, 8-4 BGSU, 9-3 Toledo, and 5-6 Uconn. And they did it without they're star running back for half of the season. They played the toughest schedule in the MAC, and were extremely competitive when Oliver was in the backfield.

Common opponents:

Buffalo vs. NIU...........LOSS 45-3
CMU vs. NIU............LOSS 24-55

Buffalo vs. Toledo........ LOSS 25-20
CMU vs. Toledo...........LOSS 35-50

Buffalo vs. WMU..........WIN 29-24
CMU vs. WMU.............LOSS 42-31

Buffalo vs. Miami.......WON 27-24
CMU vs. Miami.......WON 30-16

Buffalo vs. Umass......WON 29-19
CMU vs. Umass........WON 42-21

RE: Bowl Confirmations.
Let's be honest with ourselves. The NCAA will give Georgia Tech a waiver at 6-7 just like UCLA last year. Stop denying how money talks. MAC and SBC fans need to root against Pitt (vs. USF) and UConn (vs. Cincy) next weekend.

6-6 Central Michigan is the first team on the chopping block.

7-5 Western Kentucky is the second team on the chopping block.

8-4 ASU\MTSU loser, ULM, presumably ULL, Bowling Green, and Ohio can't be bumped by WKU or CMU.

So if Georgia Tech is team #70, then CMU is team #71, and MAC\SBC fans should definitely not want there to be a team #72 or team #73. Things get pretty dicey if Pitt and UConn both qualify for the Big East's last two autobids.

I would think Ole Miss goes to liberty bowl.
Music City telling ACC to apply for waiver,
with UNC ineligable, Mia self-imposed,
Music City telling ACC to do something

RE: Bowl Confirmations.
C-US has their bowl line-up set, with 2 different lineups depending on who wins the C-USA Championship game.

http://www.conferenceusa.com/sports/m-fo...12aaj.html

If Tulsa wins the championship game, this will be C-USA's bowl lineup:
Liberty Bowl - Tulsa
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl - Rice
Hawai'i Bowl - SMU
New Orleans Bowl - ECU
Beef `O' Brady's Bowl - UCF

If UCF wins the championship game, this will be C-USA's bowl lineup:
Liberty Bowl - UCF
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl - Tulsa
Hawai'i Bowl - SMU
New Orleans Bowl - Rice
Beef `O' Brady's Bowl - East Carolina

a tweet from Jeremy Fowler of CBS

Quote:#NCAA will approve Georgia's Tech's waiver to be bowl-eligible even if it loses ACC champ game to go 6-7, sources told @cbssports.

This is pure bull****. Why even have the new set of rules for bowl eligibility of they are not going to follow the new rules? I bet if it was a MAC team they wouldn't approve it (yes, I know they did before, but I bet they wouldn't do it again).

Improves UT's chances for the Liberty Bowl vs UCF/Tulsa. GT/Vandy in the Music City Bowl.

I am sure they would approve it but remember being eligible does not mean you will be taken and so there is little to fear for approving a MAC team..

It isn't our fault Miami and UNC misbehaved. GT was granted a waiver for the same reason UCLA was: GT wouldn't be in this position if the team that won division wasn't in NCAA trouble. The NCAA is at least consistent about not punishing other teams indirectly for one program's bad deeds. That's what Penn State didn't get a TV ban -- it would hurt revenue for everybody else. Same thing with UCLA's waiver. Same thing with GT's waiver.
