Except you're not defending anyone, you're just being a jerk. And nobody is attacking working American families that I see.
If you want to do something, what would you suggest to make the situation better, and how and why would you expect it to work? Include unintended as well as intended consequences.
If you are looking for solutions rather than entertainment on a message board you are too far gone for me to help.

If that's your attitude, don't complain about the level of discourse.

Not to speak for Owl but I don't think he's looking for solutions in as much as he's looking to see if you lack the intellectual capacity to articulate one that isn't absurd.
I for one think it's a lost cause, but Owl's always been more optimistic than me.

Bingo on the first, and unfortunately on the second as well.

We have incentivised dependence.

We have troops on foodstamps

And the rest of the 42 million?

The majority are the working poor which you apparently either hate or envy

That, or the people the left wants to keep its thumb on.

I certainly hope nothing ever happens to either of you that would effect your employment status but if it does I am proud to be part of the social safety net that will be there to help during the transition and I can't understand why you wouldn't want the same for me and my family. Of course a smug pompous a$$ would think that will never happen to them

Yes. I have a lot of control over the masses from my lair in Hernando, Mississippi

You said "during the transition". I doubt you find anyone against that.

What about the permanent underclass that the left has cultivated?

Where did I say anything remotely resembling that?

Of course I didn't. We'd actually have a stronger safety net if you did what I purpose. But of course you're too interested in being a jerk to pay attention to any of that.

So how is it that with a democrat president the number of poor grew? What is your side doing about it besides nothing?

Ninerfan shouldn't you and Owl be on the CUSA board discussing your upcoming games vs La. Tech, UNC Charlotte, Old Dominion and UT San Antonio

Well, from my perspective, given that we don't play any of those teams, and we can't play ourselves, and we don't join C-USA until next year, the answer would be no.

We are, but according to Obama certain Americans (conservatives) sit in the back of the bus, or make too much money, or don't pay their fair share. What has Obama done to improve the life of anyone? (illegals and Welfare glommers excluded)

RE: Happy Food Stamp Thanksgiving
At the gorcery store on Saturday I was behind a lady that "paid" for her items with food stamps. After she completed her "purchase" I said, "You're welcome". She obvioulsy had no clue, gave me a "Huh" face and continued on her way. Now, normally I don't judge folks because, like this lady, I didn't know her backstory, etc. However, when I saw the carten of cigarette and the 12 pack of beer go across the scanner and the cash somehow magically appeard to pay for those items, I felt inclined to comment. Pretty sure she still has no idea why I said what I did.

Usually they pay for that stuff out of pocket... that's how it works they don't have money for food but do for life's other basic necessities.

That was my whole point. Need the food stamps for the food but have the real $$ for crap like smokes and booze. This system is so screwed up.
