Thought we got invited to a better conference based on merit. We're going into a division comprised of CUSA/MWC/MAC teams. None of whom have been to the BCS let alone won a game there. We'll move the needle for every team in our division, but there isn't one team there that does the same for me.

You asked.

I hope we play you on that gimmick field next year and out physical you again

Like I said, having Boise St on your schedule is a plus. Your fans get fired up for the chance to get that win.

It always isn't what you signed up for, isn't it?

Definitely not. Learned that lesson in the MWC.

SDSU is capable of being a rival, they've proved that this season. I don't think anyone sees it that way though at the present time.

I don't think anyone in the BE sees Boise as a rival either, you guys haven't stayed in a conference long enough to build one.

These things take time. The eastern teams have rivals already. We'll all form new ones.

The problem with BYU fans is they often have the ability to speak. So Fresno? Works for me. 04-cheers

Wow, you'd think Alabama had joined with that attitude

See, unlike ECU fans, Boise fans have actually justified an attitude with you know, actually being relevant in the past decade. Don't you have a CUSA board to whine on and claim entitlement against teams while finishing around .500?

Anyway, bronco fan was a bit extreme on his views but I kind of agree with him. It's kinda stupid that 4 of the best 5 or 6 teams are in one division. I guess it's a good thing for 2013 while the aq is still in place but for 2014 that schedule is gonna be highly detrimental to boise, Sdsu or possibly Houston If they get things find with their program. I guess the cross divisional games could help with the SOS but if some of the teams don't improve then a loss or two could severely damage a western team's shot at a big time bowl.

Uhhhhh...... you've known exactly who (except #14) was going to be in the nBE for how long now? Now all of a sudden you're disappointed?

Speaking for myself I'm all good with the new BE digs. As are most of the Boise State bros I hang with. I like what I'm seeing so far with Aresco's drive out in front. Some fans were expecting to find WVA, etc on the schedule and are disappointed. Sheit happens. Like in 2009 when we left the WAC for the MWC only to see Utah go to PAC12, BYU go indy, and TCU off to the BE and B12. So I can understand some fustration with some of the Boise State fans.

That said, its looking fine with the geographical divisions, and I expect BYU, AF or Fresno to join us and make it all good out west with Navy on board.

Its a great day for the Big East and a great day for Boise State and most of us feel pretty damned good about our new partners. Louisville, SMU, Houston, Rutgers, SDSU, Cincy, the two great Florida schools, etc---where we are going is a lot better than what we are leaving behind!

So don't kid yourselves. By and large most of us are excited to be here and looking to the future going forward.

RE: McMurphy: Temple to the western division
Anyone who can not see why this conference has to go to 16 is just kidding themselves. There are far too many reasons for it to ignore. First of all the existing western teams need more balance on that side ,at sixteen the conference looks complete and not lopsided. BYU and either Fresno St. or UNLV should be the two added per the western posters. In the east ECU should come on board ,these moves benifit the conference in that it seperates us from the (group of five)we become stronger while they grow weaker. It is what it is ,we have to do what is necessary to make our own place in the world of college football. If we do not we will see it taken from us. With eight teams in each division (7 division and 2 crossdivision games) no one will have to worry about SOS or good home scheduels to attract fans. With these games and as strong of an OOC scheduel as[/align] each team can manage the BIG EAST champion will be access bowl worthy.

Ummm, those schools were gone before you even got an invite.

Uh, wrong, my friend but that is simply not true. They were all members when we accepted the MWC invite to join on June 11, 2010. Utah then received the PAC10 invite on June 22, 2010. Then later BYU announced they were leaving to go indy on Aug 31, 2010. TCU got their BE invite in November 2010. Boise State was the one left holding the bag and why most of us are very happy to be here in the new Big East.

Its a brand new place for us and some pretty good company to share it with---as long as we don't get raided again.

I guess we're talking about 2 completely different things then. I'm not sure why you referenced Boise fans "expecting to find WVU, etc. on the schedule." Pitt, Cuse, TCU & WVU were all invited somewhere else before Boise was invited to the Big East. If that was their expectation they're about a year behind the realignment schedule.

Boise was not accepted into the mwc the previous week, then I think it was on a monday were magically accepted and Utah was gone weds or thurs and BYU and the WAC were already starting to poke around for indy games and trying to lure MWC teams. I imagine Boise knew very well that it was highly unlikely that Utah was going to be in the conference and therefore not BYU - hell, why do you think you got in? BYU and Utah's voting block in the mountains fell apart and the Hair could hammer through Boise's acceptance

It was a sad affair for the average BSU fan though. We spent years trying to get into the MWC and once we finally got there, everything fell apart. But I for one am excited about the nBE and having all these national institutions on the blue. Just wish we'd get #14 and the TV deal situated.

Ignorant statement, James. Who do you think put the WAC on the map during our decade long stay with them? Nope, we "haven't stayed in a conference long enough to build one." 01-wingedeagle

Rivalries were created with a number of teams. We were even developing one with TCU before they left for greener pastures...

Lol, the WAC was on the "map" long before BSU got there. It even had a national champion and everything. It takes more than a decade and a few close games to build a true rivalry.
