Big East presidents expected to approve Temple in western division in 2013 w/Boise, San Diego State, UH, SMU & Memphis, sources tell @ESPN

Interesting. Obviously a placeholder until another western team joins.

As I expected and as I think it should be for two seasons. Then Navy goes to the west and Temple moves east. Make sure the Owls get Rutgers as a cross-division game this coming season as a throw-in to make it more palatable.

As a Temple fan, I don't mind this. Chiefly because we need QB help and Addazio can make great use of two Texas trips (and a California trip to boot) to find one. We can always dream about finding the next Case Keenum or Johnny Manziel, who's skill sets would've been IDEAL for the offense we run at Temple.
I guess that adds a little more balance to the conference until it can make some kind of geographic sense.
TU taking one up the shorts for the team...thx.
wow...well better them than us!!

seriously...

So the east will be:

UofL
UC
RU
UCONN
USF
Navy
UCF

West will be
Boise
Temple
SDSU
UH
Memphis
SMU
Team A (BYU, AF, Fresno etc)

correct?
Nope Navy will probably replace Temple in west when they join
^ got it thx Cuban....makes sense
Temple should see the positive side of this. Most people west of the Appalachains don't know very much about Temple. This is an opportunity for Temple to get a head start on being better-known nationally.

And it's just for two years.

As a Temple fan, I actually don't mind being in the West for a couple of years for the reasons mentioned above. However, I hope that the 3 "crossover" games include Rutgers, Uconn & either UCF or USF.
Also, would assume that we will have Boise at home in 2013 since we already have a road game at Idaho next year.

When I spoke to the President of Temple a couple months back, this is exactly why he liked this idea for a few years. It's all about recruiting/marketing in new regions.

As a Temple fan, I don't mind this. But I don't know if this is going to help us increase attendance. We've come along way with attendance over the past 7 years, but I don't think the average fan really wants to watch Temple play most of these teams. I mean, I'm guilty of this. I didn't really watch the UL or Cinci games...I just stick to the teams like Villanova, Rutgers, Maryland, UConn, etc.
For 2013-2014, line-ups will be:

EAST:
UofL
UC
RU
UCONN
USF
UCF

WEST:
Boise
Temple
SDSU
UH
Memphis
SMU

Dang...thats like have a BCS vs a non-BCS set-up....but for UCF...the "old guard/BCS" division will help sell a lot more season tix than the other...plus the "old guard" will bring a heck of a lot more fans to BHNS vs teams from the West not named Boise.
UCF Football Schedule, 2013:

Akron (MAC)
@FIU (CUSA)
Bethune Cookman (FCS)
South Carolina (SEC)
Louisville
Navy
Connecticut
Cincinnati
SMU***
Rutgers
Boise***
USF!!!

THAT IS AWESOME. :noisycricket:
All hail McMurphy for being "CPT. Obvious!" The fact that Temple was going west was posted when they first joined the BE. I mean nothing new here. 03-lmfao
Big East Divisions
McMurphy says that in 2015 the divisions will be:

RED

Memphis
Louisville
UConn
Navy
SDSU
USF
SMU

BLUE

14th Team
Cincinnati
Rutgers
Temple
Boise St
UCF
Houston

Each will have permanent crossover games(I put them in order so they would match-up, i.e. Memphis/14th team, Louisville/Cincinnati, etc.)
It seems they put for emphasis in balancing the power in each division but it is far from east/west setup.
Wow this may not be as bad as I thought schedule wise. Cincinnati could very well have a guaranteed games with Boise St, BYU, and Louisville every year.
Wait, they're doing geographical now (sensible!) but zipper in the future (stupid)? Me no like.

Yeah I was expecting Louisville, Cincinnati, BSU, & BYU to be split evenly between the divisions.
