Conservatives at an information disadvantage.
This is a great article on how and why the conservative media got the election wrong. They are failing their audience for ratings.

RE: Conservatives at an information disadvantage.
Conservatives have a mis-information problem. The good news for conservatives is that most of the things they are mad about never actually happened.

Conservative Media Fails GOP
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/arch...le/264855/

Interesting article on how the conservative media spent more time trying to spin election coverage, rather than reflect an accurate landscape of the strengths and weaknesses of the candidates and the campaigns.

Quote:The conclusions of experts are not sacrosanct. But Silver's expertise was always a better bet than relying on ideological hacks like Morris or the anecdotal impressions of Noonan. Sure, Silver could've wound up wrong. But people who rejected the possibility of his being right? They were operating at a self-imposed information disadvantage.
....
Conservatives were at a disadvantage because Romney supporters like Jennifer Rubin and Hugh Hewitt saw it as their duty to spin constantly for their favored candidate rather than being frank about his strengths and weaknesses.
....
Conservatives were at a disadvantage because their information elites pandered in the most cynical, self-defeating ways, treating would-be candidates like Sarah Palin and Herman Cain as if they were plausible presidents rather than national jokes who'd lose worse than George McGovern.

How many months were wasted on them?

People who consumed a wide variety of news were not surprised by the election results. People that consumed only conservative media? Ask Rebel.

I DVR'd Foxnews election night to watch it later. they were in denial mode the whole night. Sure Megyn Kelly is a hottie who is easy on the eyes but she tried to explain the results instead of reporting them. Sarah Palin's interview was a trip to the dentist. They are truly in a bubble.

RE: Conservative Media Fails GOP
I imagine a Romney campaign strategy meeting where they get the latest polls and decide to spend time, money, and effort on spinning the polls as "skewed" rather than addressing the voter gaps being shown in damn near every poll.

I'm not surprised. Like I said before, the weeks leading up to the election anytime someone on here would post a poll with Obama in the lead it would be blasted as "liberal biased" every single time. One poster on here convinced the rest of the board that North Carolina wasn't a swing state but it was one of the first states to close and one of the last to be called. Sounds like a swing state to me.

RE: Conservatives at an information disadvantage.
I never understood the term liberal media. It seems like its used for anybody that disagrees with republicans. I like analysis. If I'm up, I want to know that I'm up. Same thing if I am down. Fox and their ridiculous pundits are always wrong and they keep bringing them on because viewers like what they say, .ie Dick Morris.

We might be piling on here a little bit. I agree with you guys but I'm going to make a conscious effort to steer away from threads like this for a couple of weeks. This is spiking the football a little bit.

Well, they post stuff all day from these crazy websites. I'm not trying to rub it in but it kind of needs to be pointed out that the stuff they go crazy about, the rest of America doesn't care about.
