You guys do realize that cell phones aren't expensive, like, at all right? And that they're more efficient than landlines (as far as required infrastructure)? I feel like a lot of peoples outrage on this is due to them being old + out of touch, and viewing a cell phone as some huge luxury item when $10 can get you a go-phone at Target.

The USF is effectively a tax. Money required to be taken, in addition to the fees for the service, and directed toward a gov't created entity.

So that talking point is moot.

But to be honest, 60 minutes a month on a cell phone isn't much, and it actually is a tool that the real working poor can use. I find this program not particularly offensive.
