Probably because she didn't know it started under Bush? Actually, I read somewhere that the phone may not even be free via the government. I read that the phones are provided by the company contracting with the gov't but the minutes are paid for through the gov't. Not sure if there is any truth to that though. It would seem to make sense given how the landline program works.

Probably because new cars are expensive and hold their value better than in the past due to being better built. But to be fair, there probably are fewer lower priced cars than there would be if the program didn't go through.
