Everyone wants to be hopeful that their team can win, but we've played A&M several times and it has never been close. Tech fans know we will have to play over our heads to keep this one close. A&M has looked fantastic... big, fast, strong, and well-coached. We aren't blind.

Well maybe you need to come back to Ruston to share your views with the Tech faithful there.

Tech has had a great year. They've done everything that could be asked of them. But I recall how many banner seasons Boise had before they were finally invited to the big bowls. I just don't think Tech could do it off of one year.

A&M with their very mobile QB is going to be very difficult for us and our D. They are much better than any team we or ULM has played this season. It will take at least +3 turnovers and we have to be able to run the ball against them. Hopefully it doesn't turn into an Okie St vs ULL or Oregon vs A State type of game.

I believe Baylor would give them plenty.

I have been very impressed with how tech has done thus far this year but they will
Go down this next game but not without a fight of course. Anything can happen but they are not surprising anybody at this time of the year.

A&M has a better QB and defense but ULM played really well against a good Baylor team - I was pulling for you'll. I would like our chances a little better in Ruston than Shreveport

Count me in your corner... I almost *always* root for the non-AQ's over the AQ's and this will be no exception! 04-cheers

that's what the asu fans on tribal den would say. according to them western has always been the conference darling in hoops and now benson is cheating for us in football.

that is how we beat them.

someone said we have 3 coaches on the poll. last week after (ch/b)eating the defending champs the 3 sunbelt coaches saw fit that win rated 0 votes.

my guess is benson called those 3 coaches and made them vote for western this week.

come on man...really? just let it go.

You know damn well nobody from ASU said that after the WKU loss. stAte fans all know WKU is the best team the Sun Belt has ever seen and will finish 11-1 before destroying an SEC team in a bowl game! Go WKU! Go Sun Belt!

Playing devil's advocate here.

This is how La Tech's opponents rank in total defense: #37 (Illinois), #72 (Virginia), #108 (UNLV), #113 (Houston), #117 (Rice).
Average of 89.4

This is how ULM's opponents rank: #75 (Auburn), #89 (MT), #110 (Arkansas), #112 (Tulane), #120 (Baylor).
Average of 101.2

RE: Coaches Top 25 Poll
Tech is getting some credibility from last year's 8-5 team too. Because of our schedule, everyone knew we were a potential BCS buster coming into the season. The 5-0 start has just kind of proved them right.

Here's our last 18 games:
17-19 loss at eventual #14 Southern Miss
48-42 OT win vs UCA
34-35 loss vs eventual #18 Houston
20-26 OT loss at Mississippi State
26-44 loss vs Hawaii
24-11 win at Idaho
24-17 win at Utah St (QB change in 3rd Quarter, then):
38-28 win vs San Jose St
41-21 win at Fresno St
27-7 win at Ole Miss
24-20 win at Nevada
44-0 win vs NM State
24-31 loss vs #15 TCU (postseason bowl game)
56-49 win at Houston
56-37 win vs Rice
52-24 win at Illinois
44-38 win at Virginia
58-31 win vs UNLV

And we probably should have won at Miss State (interception in FG range with 2 minutes left in the game that forced OT) and Houston (lead 34-14 in the 4th Quarter and they made a historic comeback). Hawaii is the only team that kicked our butts.

calm down winston the woof. you know damn well no western fan has said we'll go 11-1. what i've repeated is this is the best defense we've ever had. what i've said is that should keep us in every game.

but if by some miracle we did go 11-1 it would be as legit as legit. playing the top 4 competitors on the road? that's why i warned folks our record might not be as good as last year's during the preseason. but i didn't expect us to to start out 4-1 either. i honestly felt it coulda been 1-4. would have been thrilled with 3-2.

and there were folks on the den saying the refs cheated. even on an obvious pass interference call.

and there were many posts devoted to benson cheating for western before the game.

i had to laugh at some of them as we have the paranoiacs on our board as well.
