I have said multiple times that most voter fraud is through absentee ballots, yet the GOP insist that voter id's will solve the vote fraud problem. So as usual the republicans are creating laws to solve a problem that i snot a problem with in person voting.

How will a voter id resolve the absentee voter fraud issue?

The only problem with this argument, is I thought absentee ballots are only counted IF the margin of difference between candidates is close enough for a.ballots to make up the difference? (Or at least in some states?)

I've never heard that being the case, I thought they usually reported the absentee ballots first? I could very well be wrong though.

And I'm skeptical of this for the group behind it alone, it's a Tea Party founded organization whose entire purpose is to try and find voter fraud. I'm not saying that negates it's findings, but it does give me reason to pause.

In DC they only count the individual write in votes if the total write in count is equal to or greater than the winner among the non write ins (at least in city elections)

How does a driver's license prevent people from not driving if they don't have one? But they still make us get one and no one is complaining. Can't have it both ways.

I don't see the relevance in that statement, can you explain what you mean?

If you told a cop you are licensed to drive will he simply believe you and go away without asking to see it and check it out? Also, a license is a legal ID, which you would freely how to the pakistani guy at the 7/11 in order to get that tall 40, but the idea of showing it at a poll some how turns you off. Why?

Because the fraud isn't at the polls, it's in absentee ballots and if fraud is your true concern, then you should focus on that. And while I don't necessarily have a problem with ID laws, I just think that it's asinine and dangerous to start some half-assed program right before a contested presidential election to stop some non-factor like it has shown to be.

Not without a reasonable process in place to prevent the loss of voting rights for our citizens, especially when there is no compelling evidence of there being any crime of significant amount taking place.

And again, if you were aiming to prevent a crime, you'd focus on the method in which the majority of crime is committed and you're completely ignoring that issue.
