RE: Official RNC Thread
I should denote Ron Paul has already exceeded the delegate count that the geniuses at the Associated Press said he would get.

RE: Official RNC Thread
This charade has convinced be beyond a doubt--I'm voting for Gary Johnson.
Much as I dislike Obama, there's a limit to how much he can screw the country, particularly if republicans control house and senate--or even if senate is close enough to enable filibusters, which it almost certainly will be, and republicans are pretty unlikely to lose the house. And quite frankly, if Akin is the seat republicans need to take the senate, I don't want anyone that stupid having a vote in the senate, no matter how much I disagree with the other side. I'm not sure Claire McCaskill would be all that bad, she's a pretty independently-minded democrat. At this point, I think that if the neocons control all three they could do more harm than Obama--it's close, either way, but when neither side's ideas are any good, I fear united government far more than divided government.
Gary Johnson is extremely unlikely to go anywhere, probably unlikely to get a single electoral vote. But the bigger percentage the libertarians get, the more BOTH parties will have to look seriously at their point of view--and at this point, that seems a more desirable objective for this election than anything else.
Besides, I think winning this presidential election is very likely going to be a booby prize. I'm pretty sure the economy is going to crash and burn in the 2013-2016 time frame, if not before, and whoever is hodling the bag when that happens is going to be reviled--along with his party--for decades to come.

All those people who actually believe in small government.
Yeah. Cause not re-stating Ron Paul's numbers from the podium is a silver bullet to that.
No, but nominating Romney sure was.

RE: Official RNC Thread
The Republican Party is penny wise and pound foolish. They continue to fight tooth and nail to alienate and marginalize the liberty wing of the party. The GOP's core voters are withering away through old age attrition every day. The future of the GOP -- and of the country's voters in general is to be more and more fiscally conservative ... while also being more and more socially tolerant. Instead of embracing these positions through Ron Paul and breaking the future of the party into the tent ... they continue to run in precisely the wrong direction on both fronts. Huckabee is rallying people to Todd Akin's repugnant rape comments. Romney is the godfather of the individual mandate. It is *literally* hard to imagine the GOP screwing the pooch any worse than they are.

CNN: Ron Paul had best convention showing by a GOP challenger since Ronald Reagan in 1976 (from CNN Polling Director Keating Holland)
