You will find UTSA using this tired argument all the time.
It's great they have these teams coming in but they wouldn't if it wasn't the dome. It's not the burning desire to play UTSA. They're all
bodybag games

UTSA fans can thump their chests all they want about having the dome to use (BTW - it is 20 years old so don't throw age at anyone) and they'll throw in the great game day experiences (experts after 1 season) but they have no clue what a real college gameday on your own campus and your own stadium is like.

Lynn Hickey has done a hell of a job but until they get off their asses and build their own they'll never understand what they're missing.

(waiting for the "we'd rather have a 65K crap dome than a 45K on campus facility" argument to rear it's head)

We never said we were gods gift to college football. Oh and why built a campus stadium when we have the Alamodome all to our self's. Need to remember this football program is supported by the city of SA which has a pop. of 1.5mil. Yes it may be 20 years old but up grades are done all the time. Tell me you wouldn't want the dome sitting right next to the outlet mall for TxSt to play in?

Ummm... no thanks. Stadium design has been moving away from domes for some time now (except those with retractable roofs). I have nothing against them (having grown up in Houston and seeing epic battles in the Astrodome). Still, I prefer the uncovered stadium experience... and the college game day experience on campus. I think UTSA will be fine in the dome for a few years. Once more established, I suspect yall will want your own stadium on campus.

Move along to the CUSA board. This is where Belt teams talk sports.

Oh, I'm sorry I thought this was a free country!

Here's how I see it.

1) If someone posts political stuff, its fair game
2) If someone posts some smack about another school/conference, regardless of the forum its posted on...its fair game
3) If it is a jump ball posting (e.g., conference realignment) its fair game.

For example, If you had waited for someone to (inevitably) post something about UTSA's KFC promotion...then it would have been perfectly appropriate to chime in

That being said, I always think twice about posting smack on someone else's board. Sometimes its deserved. Sometimes its appropriate..

No thanks. We actually prefer for our fans to actually pay to get it to the game. You see we have a valuable product that people are willing to pay to see. Unlike you guys (KFC U) where you have to bribe them with free chicken just to come for free.

MTSU, like most belt schools, has already shown they can draw a crowd without a special promotion. Why give out free tickets when you know those same people will pay to get in?

UTSA has to offer free chicken, because your fan base isnt large enough to draw over 40K normally.

So are you implying that if you build an on campus stadium (that could be anywhere from 30-60K if designed right) the city would stop supporting the team?

And - not to be a butt, however, dissing a school who has also done upgrades over the years is a pot calling a kettle black.

As for the dome part - Hell no, I hate domed stadiums.

5K from what I recall. After that they have to pay.
They're doing a dumb*** lottery for the 5K. Seriously, the students paid/are paying for this move. I think it's a slap in the face.

Yeah I'd be pissed. Will Texas Tech bring their band?

Good question. I'll go over to the Tech board and inquire and get back with you.
No band. They are only taking their band to the Baylor and TCU games.

Wow we give away 1ooo tickets and avg. over 35k per game. Fan base not large enough? What is your fan base number? Ours is over 1.5 mil.

No the support would not stop. Why spend 200 mil. for a stadium when you have one in place.

Congrats on the attendance numbers. I am going to try to take in a TXST game this year since I live in the area.

The Alamodome is not a crap dome. It's an awesome facility to watch a game. Have you ever watched a game in the Alamodome? Still looks newish for a 20 year old dome.

By the way, UTSA's KFC ticket promotion WAS ONLY FOR 2 GAMES, last year out of six. This is not directed at you but some people that can't get it through their skulls, that this was a VERY limited giveaway (2 games total, less than 1,000 seats in one section of the upper deck). See the CUSA board for details on how it was for only 2 of 6 home games. Some people show a picture of a KFC add and act like utsa gave away thousands of tix at every game. a complete lie.

I bought 3 tickets. I'm going to take my dad and one of my brothers. Both my parents graduated from Tech and so I'm hoping he'll like going to the game.

UTSA plays the same day day at 1pm. I'm going to try to make both games. = )

I hope it's a sell out and I hope the Bobcats give them a game (like they did for 1/2 the game last season).

RE: Texas State has sold 21,870 tickets for Texas Tech
Alright Runner, that's enough of your bs. You butted in with no reason to do so, with strait smack, and derailed a perfectly legitimate thread that had nothing to do with your team. If you want to talk smack take it to our Smack Board.

Move along if you don't have anything positive to contribute.

I think it will sell out come game time and they didn't even have to bribe people with free KFC chicken to get them in the door.

From the looks of your attendance you might try the KFC deal too.

No thanks. We actually prefer for our fans to actually pay to get it to the game. You see we have a valuable product that people are willing to pay to see. Unlike you guys (KFC U) where you have to bribe them with free chicken just to come for free.

Oh so that's why your stadium is 75% empty.

Okay, this is getting just a little silly. Their game against Texas Tech will sell out. You're playing OSU, Houston, and Arizona, cool. That's nice for you. Their stadium won't be 75% empty for their TTU game (that's a crowd of ~7.5k fyi). I doubt Texas State will EVER in their SBC play have a crowd that low.

And... MT's attendance over the last several years has consistently been very high. And seriously - you don't need all this "bribing" to bring fans. Build a brand, have a winning team, and the fans will come. MT's game against GT last year had around 31k (around sellout) and we didn't have "free giveaway ticket packs!"...
