First off...There is no such thing as unrestricted capitalism and there never has been. The concept of consumer choice and market signals is lost of Progs. Evidently government education is lacking on basic economics.

Laissez faire capitalism is a failed concept and people who believe otherwise are completely wrong.

Again...That does not and never has existed. It is just a talking point used to justify government intervention. Usually it is simply crony capitalists using the force of government to inhibit competition. The consumer is perfectly capable of regulating the marketplace. The problem is...they rarely get to prove it.

That is an outright lie.

Laissez faire capitalism inhibits competition. When one group becomes a large enough monopoly, there is nothing that can be done to stop it. That group will control enough of the resouces and the market that they can dictate terms that the public will be forced to accept.

I don't seem to recall one single company controlling health insurance. There are countless companies out there that you can buy health insurance from.

There is nothing wrong with a market monopoly. It simply means that you have the superior product or service in a particular marketplace. Market monopolies rarely last because of competition. The only monopolies that last for extended periods are coercive monopolies. These are businesses that have a monopoly in their marketplace because of government mandate or protection by politicians.. The consumer has no input into a coercive monopoly because competition does not exist or is inhibited.

I hope this clears up your confusion.

...as is usually the case in a competitive marketplace. Expect that to change since coercion has been injected into the insurance industry.

It is lost on us because we live in reality not some fantasy world.
