My understanding is that it is 32,000 at ULL.

Who were they playing?

And I could see the USA/Troy game being more than that.

32,823 vs UNT last year. we also hit 29,975 against Troy, 28176 vs ULM, and 26,339 vs FAU. All of those rank in the top 10 in SBC game attendance, and I believe UL is now #1-3 with UNT, Troy, and FIU and if the ULM game isnt 4th, I'm pretty sure its #5.

I think Troy vs USA will be more than 32,823....It could get close to 40k

Outside of the 2 SEC schools in Alabama's annual rival game, Troy-USA is the best thing that can happen for college football in the state. This thing can really evolve into something great for the SBC.

I agree. The same can be said for MT-WKU, the 100 Miles of Hate... I think that once both teams start getting into a rhythm, the game could be a really big one. It'd be cool to play it in front of a sellout every game and perhaps once in a while have the game at LP Field. One day...?

My guess would be about 35,000 for the Troy Vs USA game this year. Troy will easily bring 10-13k

If you guys don't win a game this season, people will say its because your past years schedule wasn't tough enough. If you have a successful season, people will say it was because you had the luxury of hand picking your seasons. I glanced at your schedule and saw Hargreave, we got a couple of BB players from there so I know it was a prep school. I throw that out and y'all fill in the rest. Now anyone who wants to get under your skin knows what to say. 03-shhhh

UTSA will have to live with the chicken promo, regardless of how many butts it actually brought it. GSU cross to bear is the picture of an empty dome, even if it was only one game and all the others were sold out. All belt members have one of more talking points against the other members (I was gonna add one for the Owls but OwlFamily had my back today, unfortunately 01-lauramac2).

The good thing about FIU's journey is we have heard it all by now. So just get comfortable with it, it not gonna change.

I am going to dinner now, thank you all for an entertaining day. 04-cheers

And you should be comfortable with your record as well. A 6-6 regular season with an 0-4 OOC regular season record and last years third place Sun Belt finish featuring a spectacular 4th quarter collapse against Duke at home and a beatdown by Marshall in a bowl game.

Should we even begin to discuss FIU basketball? FYI, when was the last time a SBC team not named South Alabama got an at large NCAA bid?

Best of luck in C-USA and having a schedule filled with teams no better than in the Belt. You'll probably be as competitive in CUSA as you have been in the SBC so long as you can hang onto your coach.

Think before you come after us. Or question the dues South Alabama has paid as a 35 year member of this conference.

Just for the record, Tom, I'm comfortable with FIU record in ALL SPORTS, Tom. I'm comfortable with our 0-12 season, Tom. I'm comfortable with the follow up season of 1-11, Tom. Do you know why, Tom? We got better because of it.

I'm comfortable with our 0-4 OOC in 2010, because we followed that up with 6-2 performance in conference, the sun belt title and a bowl win. I'm comfortable with our 0-4 OOC in 2010 because we followed that up with 3-1 OOC in 2011 with wins against UL & UCF, Tom.

And go ahead Tom, put up FIU's basketball stats. Because no one else who is interested can figure out where to find it. 03-lmfao

But guess what? Even if FIU is 0-100, USA still played prep schools to pad their stats. Schools do what is deemed in their best interest, South Alabama is no different. So if it is ok for South Alabama to take the easiest path to FBS football, that is your prerogative, Tom. But facts are facts. Similarly, if a program chooses to fill their budget holes with pay-for-play games, that is your prerogative, Tom. Not coming after you, Tom, because I got no interest in you. But fire away, my chest is broad enough, Tom.

I have obviously hit a nerve with you guys, but it is what it is, Tom.

First, its obvious that no one at FIU cares about basketball. Including the Athletic Department.

Second, FIU has exactly two OOC wins over teams that finished with a winning record. Ever. A road win at a Louisville team that finished 7-6 and a bowl win against a Toledo team that finished 8-5. UCF lost to UAB last year too.

Before FIU starts talking smack, you might want to look at your record. Because it certainly doesn't justify your smack talk.

So FIU having 2 winning seasons. Ever. Or only beating 2 teams with a winning record. Ever. How does that make what I have said any less true?

Were you just having a bad day when you started this thread? I wish FIU luck in CUSA. Why don't you encourage your AD to add USA to your future schedule?

Doubtful. We might bring 4 or 5 grand, tops. It's not a bowl game and its in the middle of the year. We brought 800 or so last time we played Florida, so 4 or 5 grand, even when the game is close-by might still be a bit much. What do we usually bring to UAB?

Troy is close enough to Mobile that the school has a ton of alumni living in the area. You'll "travel" better than you think.

My Jag Friends ...
I don't really need to defend the Jags' 2009 season. It was 7 games, totally designed to get the program started and create excitement. Other schools, like GA State, waited an extra year and played real games against real colleges right from the start.

It was a good decision for us. The practice year in 2009 allowed us a perfect season in our true first season in 2010 (1st as defined by the NCAA, apparently). And they weren't all pushover games. The highlight was a thrilling victory over UC-Davis on the road. Nobody expected that, and UC-Davis decided to buy out the 2011 game rather than make the return trip to Mobile.

So laugh at the 2009 schedule. We know it was weak and so what? We honestly expected to lose to Hargrave that first game. We didn't, and we blew out everyone we played. That's a tribute to our team, our coaching, our community support (in Market 60, by the way), and our fans.

With that said, we deserve to be picked last in the Sun Belt until we prove ourselves. Like 2009 was practice for the first real season of college football, 2012 is practice for 2013 -- our first true season of Sun Belt football. I'm excited and hoping we'll win a couple of games along the way.

Go Jags!

Mobile is maybe 90 minutes further if you're driving from Montgomery? It's all freeway too.

Um...what?

Not taking a shot at Georgia State, but they haven't even hit 50% capacity yet and have only cracked 25% capacity a couple of times. They'll be fine once they're full members and shouldn't have a problem finding their way to the middle of the pack attendance wise, with some success on the field they should be towards the top.

I wouldn't be expecting capacity ever. Thats 70,000 people, maybe if we were a successful team and played Georgia or Georgia Tech, but i wouldn't bet on that either. We've maxed out at 30,237 thus far putting our maximum at around 43% capacity. Thats the lower bowl filled and the middle bowl end zones filling, and honestly it's a great atmosphere regardless of the size of the dome (you can see here:

)

If we get more than that, then awesome, but it's gonna take time and winning. BTW, 27,000 should fill the entire lower bowl.
