Or not.

FAU has only beaten one of the "Big Boy" teams and that was when the came into our place.

Any word on the final amount? I think we should bend all the top tier SEC teams for well over 7 figures.

We've had what, a little more than 2 months of knowing we were FBS, so we couldn't have started scheduling opponents for an FBS schedule until then. Not a criticism of South, but since you started your program you had the opportunity to put together future schedules. We've had 2 months. And in those two months we've (apparently) scheduled Florida. I certainly don't think that this progress is worthy of such criticism.

Anyway we're awesome. And hey, if we only schedule SEC teams ('Bama, Tennessee, Florida) we have to start winning eventually, right? Right?

Agreed. Understand you GET to schedule games like this every year. It comes with being in the Sun Belt and not CAA. Understood that you didnt have the luxury of knowing when and where you'd go FBS. You do have a very nice stadium to get home games with. It'll come.

Sad thing, this thread was started based on a random tweet, looks like Florida does not have GSU scheduled for 2013 after all according to Gastateben, but, after trying to decipher the FIu posts, not sure where it was headed, nuff said, Go Jags! FIu good riddance and Jags rock!02-13-banana

First thing, it wasn't FIU's post it was FIU4Ever's post. Secondly, except for AlaIllTex, most Jag fans missed the point. The point is this: not every program has the luxury of knowing that they have a FBS home locked whenever they decided to start football. For those who don't have that luxury, whenever such opportunity arises then they have to jump on it, even if they are not in the most ideal phase of their development to make the jump. That can lead to a bad cycle: budget increases creating a hole in the budget, so you play money games. You get your a$$ kicked in the money games so you lose the casual fan interest. You lose the fan so lower ticket revenue and hole in the budget.

A combination of our students' willingness to support the athletics program and our AD ability to secure home-home series got us off that merry-go-round. Others are simply new to the game, don't have that student support or some other combination of factors that may be totally out of their control. So should FIU look down our noses at another team that hasn't yet figured a way off the wheel?

GSU has the potential to do what FIU does in terms of scheduling. They have a large student body that can support a good athletics program. They are in a solid recruiting area. They just need a few seasons to roll by (most programs already have their OOC opponents signed for the next couple of years ) for some mid-majors and low end BCS programs to see the potential of a game in Atlanta.

The Jags had a luxury very few programs get these days. Jags AD chose a path that they believe would give the Jags the best chance of success on the field and in the stands. The fact is they chose to play a lot of lower than FCS division teams. The fact is the Jags won a whole lot of games. The fact is people came to watch the Jags play. The fact is the plan worked.

Not everyone will point to the pros of a program (ok, i'm the only one 05-stirthepot the Jag pot) and when someone goes neg, you got to defend your program. Saying another program sucks just as much is not a really good defense. Insulting a school's name, demographics, facilities, fanbase, traditions or even the years in conference is generally not an effective counter point to prove the falsehood of what was said about your program. Again, my hat off to AlaIllTex for his responses.

More likely than not I will be coming up for the Panthers game this season, so I will be expecting to see the welcome wagon with some pitchforks and hopefully some beer. 04-cheers

We're not playing them> It was a replacement for Toledo and that game is still on.

That is unfortunate, maybe another opportunity will arise. Get UGA to cancel one of their games 02-13-banana

That would be nice but I fear they hate Coach Curry way too much. He DID make the "...bring the cheaters to their knees" comment while coaching GT.
