Jesus, this sh** gives me a headache. Maybe the SBC will go to 12, maybe not. Maybe that means GA Southern and/or App will get an invite, maybe not. I'm not getting excited until I see something official.

That would be wise.
Only exception to that would be if you start to see A LOT more smoke and words like WILL, IS etc start coming out.
IF is not very promising.

I'm getting to this point as well. 10 or 12, I'm proud Georgia State is in the Sun Belt. We've been saying all along we'll play anyone anywhere.

RE: Move to 12 about to be official?
True. Sounds 50/50 even that they will go to 12.
Probably only 50/50 that they will even make a definate decision at the meeting, especially if a committee to study it has been set up.
I just don't believe it is anyway a done deal.
Can hope, but getting really tired of getting my expectations up.

Except Georgia Southern, because that wouldn't make sense to add another hard team to your schedule, according to your coach.
But seriously, this back and forth stuff is getting old. I have faith that our President is doing everything he can right now. If we still had Grube, I wouldn't even bother getting excited because there is no way in heck he'd go for it. Keel seems to be all in for FBS.

On a lighter side, some poster on the MAC boards said that:
JMU turned down a MAC offer and a WAC offer last night.
Guess MAC wanted all sports and JMU didn't want to go all sports MAC.
Just a rumor even though poster seemed certain and had been around for years.

RE: Move to 12 about to be official?
I do have one question. We keep talking about GaSo, and then I go all over and hear they need 6-8 years to be ready, have funding issues, have title IX issues, etc. So are they ready to go or not? I mean if they are, more power to em, if not why do we keep talking about them? just MHO.
For what it's worth, I'd be all over the LU and App to the SBC together, and I would want a web cam on a few outspoken LU haters on this board when it gets announced.

One, what Coach Curry says echoes most coaches around the country.
Two, that's a public statement, but from what we hear on our end, your AD didn't want to schedule us. Apparently, they weren't too happy about another football program getting started in the state.
Of course, no one knows the true story except the players involved.

I saw that too, how stupid. The only thing saving JMU is they get a new president in a little over a month. The only thing is the ship will have sailed for next season transition

JMU's statment last week seemed to suggest they were out for now, but I'd be surprised if that was really the case.

We aren't 6-8 years away from being ready. Closer to 6-8 months than 6-8 years. Right now we don't even have the lowest budget in the SBC, any improvements would only help us get to the middle/upper of the pack.
New football ops building will be breaking ground soon as well as 6k more seats.
Title IX issues are a quick fix with womens shooting (we are putting in a world class indoor shooting arena, on campus) and sand volleyball, lacrosse are also quick, cheap, and easy.
We also fit into the current SBC footprint much better than LU.
We are also 10x more competitive on the grid iron and our transition would be much easier.
How is this still an issue?

I heard our AD didn't want to schedule you because your AD wouldn't do a home-and-home, and would only host us in the Dome for one game. Than again, neither of our ADs are very bright, so the whole thing was probably a clusterF---.

Thanks for the info. I don't really like comparisons since I think both schools have a lot to offer. I was just hearing so much contradictory info I was getting confusaled.

There's a lot of misinformation floating around about GaSouthern, mainly from taking statements out of context or misquoting them entirely.
- The "8 year" number is the length of the Athletics Capital Campaign (already in progress). It is NOT 8 years until we're ready.
- Our budget is currently on par with several Sun Belt schools right now and is expected to grow. Dr Keel (new president) specializes in fund raising. He has thrown out a $4.4 mil annual increase that he wants to reach, but it is not a hard barrier to move.
- No Title IX issues here. We're ready to add a few more women's sports when we make the move (golf and shooting at the very least).
