I agree, but good luck with that - they all want to be king.

Agree with this.

And that is what he is doing now. They are all either reversing Obama's executive orders or procedural things that they should be used for (temporarily freezing new contracts).

So far, I don't have an issue with the ones the President has issued... as said, "reversal of previous EO"s" and executive office duties are fine.

If he oversteps his bounds then we'll speak up.. (heck the only one I can think of that you might have an argument for arguing against is the Obamacare mandate... but ironically that's the one most people (IMO) were wanting done)

And even on that, he's not "repealing" Obamacare, just laying the groundwork for Congressional action.

Maybe it's time a Congressional leader proposes an Amendment limiting the ability of a President to enact Executive Orders in general?

Let's wait and see what happens with his early EO's. Congress is just getting warmed up and from what I can tell many of Trump's EO's will end up being taken up by
Congress.

For example:

- Border wall. The EO merely directs agencies to start planning, identify funding, and send requests to Congress. It directs hiring of more border patrol agents, subject to funding (a responsibility of Congress).

- Deportation and Sanctuary Cities. The EO basically confirms enforcement of current laws. Also provides for hiring more agents, but again it is subject to funding (a responsibility of Congress).

- Manufacturing regulations. Just directs Commerce Secretary to review regulations. (I didn't know this sort of thing required an EO, thought he could just pick up the phone and tell someone to do something like this.)

- American Steel pipelines. More of a directive than any sort of order. Use American products when possible.

- Speeding up environment reviews for infrastructure. Just says to identify "high priority projects.

- Keystone and Dakota Pipeline. Invited TransCanada to resubmit application and told State Dept. to issue final decision in 60 days.

- Federal Hiring Freeze. No filling vacant positions except military and public safety.

- TPP. Withdrew US from TPP. Congress never approved so no big deal.

- ACA. This one is the biggest by far, but again any further action will go through Congress.

There are others, but those are the big ones I could think of.

All said, I don't like the use of EO's now anymore than I did 4 years ago. I'd like to see Trump telling Congress what he wants them to take up.

Wasn't that hard to find using the search command. I figured that there had been a thread about it four years ago. Too bad the search function doesn't go back eight years. 04-cheers

I am just busting your chops. 04-cheers

If EO's are constitutional?..then using them is fine. If we don't like the way the POTUS is using them and think that power needs to be removed?...There is a process available to change the Constitution.

I didn't have much of a problem with Obama using EO's. I had more of an issue with HOW he used them and WHAT he used them for.
