Unh. Look at all those teams we beat listed ahead of us. Guess that means we overachieved.

5 Big East teams in the top 25. Little brother at 24.

Temple and St Louis, no? Guess that can happen when the A-10 goes sub .500 in the NCAA Tourney (again).

RE: Final Coaches Poll - UC #18
I'd have liked to seen us ahead of Georgetown, Murray State and Florida State, but I'd say for a completely meaningless end of season ranking I am comfortable with 18. Really nice season for the Bearcats. They were no doubt a top 20 team by the end of the season. I think they were a top 15 team, but problably not top 10. Next year could be special if we get the interior play figured out.

We beat 5 of the teams listed ahead of us, but the one I really don't understand is Georgetown. We beat them twice, have Powned them for a couple years, but they are ahead of us. Hmmmm. :pwnt:

What matters is that UC went to the Sweet 16 and finished in the Top 25. UC does this every season I will be very happy.

Actually finished higher than our preseason ranking, good stuff even if we deserved a few spots higher.

Basketball finished #18 and football finished #21. Pretty awesome. Have we ever had both teams finish in the top 25 in the same year?

The only thing that might be important about this is it can lead to a preseason top 25, which may be important with recruits, not to mention getting those early season ESPN highlights and perhaps help get a good made for TV non-conference game or two.

And the voters underachieved, which is right in character with this group of voters.
What is the fascination with Georgetown? They are 8-5 since FeB 1, lose to us twice.

I don't really care. Happy for the team and what this might mean to the players, especially Yancy and Dion.

Again, no big deal, but how many times do we have to beat Gtown before we're considered better than them?

UC played 10 games against teams ranked ahead of us and went 6-4 in those games. We beat Georgetown twice and they are still ranked ahead of us? Ridiculous. Any Louisville, despite its tourney run, is ranked too high. I would put 'Cuse, UNC and Michigan State ahead of them. I like five BEast teams among the top 18, tied with the Big Ten for most ranked schools.

The athletic department tweeted this earlier:

Cincinnati Bearcats‏ @GoBEARCATS
UC men's basketball and football programs end season ranked among Top 25 in USA Today-ESPN Coaches poll - first time in school history.

I don't know, wasn't Lousyville ranked in the top 4 in the beginning of the season? Maybe a little high, but they did win the BE tourney and went to the final 4. Can't believe Dook and Missouri are so high. Losing to Lehigh and Norfolk St. in the NCAA tourney should automatically put them south of twenty.
