We're ahead of all of you. If the head of the NCAA is correct, you'll be demoted to a lower division.

Yeah ok. Dream on ASu has to much going right to ever drop down. We would just go indipendant and schedule memphis every year for the 100% guarantee Win
Just admit it ASU>Memphis.
Big East will lose BCS bid and you will just be in a average conference with a sub par football team that will give other big east teams a easy W.

ASU is on the losing end of the series in football and basketball.
Plus, they're in Jonesboro which sucks.
You're in a terrible conference that's about to get worse after the CUSA/MWC Alliance picks offs a few of your teams. But you won't have to worry because no one will see how bad you are because you'll never be on television.

Wow you must be the dumbest personI have ever met on here.. You have lost4 of 5 to ASU in Football thats called a trend. They apear on TV more than you Do! CST covers almost all their games. i think 10 games last season were on TV of some form.
Dont worry if CUSA/MWC were smart they would pick ASU with FIU, UNT..Like i said before we have better coaches, and players..we have proven it 47-3.
By the way even your own fanbase thinks GUS>fuente.
Memphis is #120/120 D1 schools in football ..GL Did the light bulb come on bc if it didnt you will need to re enroll and complete Jr high

You have one good season out of 25 and think it matters.
You will fall back into suckville soon enough while we're moving up to the Big 6.

Based on what? Not Sagarins. Not head to head. NIU had a bad situation the year before but still won their bowl game.

The Big East isn't even the Big East anymore. It's a division of CUSA.

No ASU didnt have a real coach...Malzahn decided to stay at auburn until Jan 10th..asu interim coach sent the players home instead of game planning and practicing...just was a tough few weeks for players

Just ignore him he is mentally challenged. I agree big east is a football graveyard, that's why Memphis is going. So they can use the excuse "were a basketball league"..

That's fine but I haven't seen anything to indicate that the Sunbelt is better. The 2 conferences are pretty close though.
Also, last year (EDIT: 2010) NIU lost their head coach and most of the assistants before their bowl game. Many of us thought the team wasn't prepared as well as they could have been in their conference championship game and lost to a big underdog in Miami. The coaches already knew they were leaving at that point. I don't think the situation was quite as bad as ASU's. But they did beat Fresno fairly handily despite the upheaval.

NIU wouldn't go I don't think. First of all, we don't fit geographically. The extra travel expense would wipe out any perceived step up. Also, CUSA will be a watered-down version no matter who they add. If CUSA is "better" than the MAC, Sunbelt, and WAC, they can't help but lower their overall competitiveness by adding teams from those conferences.
Also, the instability is there. NIU left the MAC once before, in the 80s and it didn't work out, ended up back in the MAC. With things changing daily in CUSA/MWC it would be a risk - they could find themselves on an island once again. Not worth it, IMO.

RE: Mountain West-WAC merger
If CUSA and the MWC do merge, it might be worth it. It appears that conferences are getting larger each day. The MAC and Sun Belt should consider bulking up to 16 members, assuming they can find suitable candidates.

I agree MAC/SBC/CUSA/Wac are all similar all have the dominant team. NIU/ASU/USM/LTU..and all have the horrible teams Buffalo/ULM/memphis/NMSU
