RE: Confirmed: DeKeyser coming back!!
I think the uncertainty over the expiring CBA is why he is staying.

you guys all missed the selection sunday at the "Sin Bin"(the hockey house on Lafayette. The boys were all outside, shirtless, taking pictures with fans and the cup. It was quite awesome to see.

DeKeyser tweeted the news Monday night.

Earlier in the day, Red Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill said the club was awaiting DeKeyser's decision.

If it had been the Dallas Stars offerring, he would have left in a heartbeat.

Perhaps. DD likely would assume he would have jumped immediately into the Stars first D unit on the NHL team.

Love hearing how much he loves WMU and Kzoo:

Quote:The junior-to-be said staying around his teammates and Kalamazoo friends for another year also played into his decision to delay his move to a professional setting.

“If I didn’t love it here, there would be no way I was staying,” DeKeyser said. “I love all my teammates and I love the school. Everyone is great. I want to try to win an NCAA game at Western and go as far as we can. A lot of that came into the decision as well.”

Max ELC base salary is $925k. ELC contracts are one of the two kinds that can have bonuses included, which can get you up to $4 million if you're Jonathan Toews and win the Conn Smythe. Realistic bonuses can get you to 1.1 to 1.4 million with a good season.

Edit: Here's a link with more details.

RE: Confirmed: DeKeyser coming back!!
If he's in the AHL, it's a fraction of that $$$. Something more like 80-100k per season average. So if you play a quarter of the season in the NHL and the other 60 games in the AHL, you'd probably take home like 300k for the season. (230k NHL, 60-75k AHL)
