What if the love of your life told you to your face that she/he loved you and would never leave you then the next day is packing their bags to leave you for someone else? I am willing to bet you would feel low as dirt, lied to, and betrayed.

Maybe some of you have forgotten this video at the airport when Cal expressed his love to Tiger Nation and the city.
It is not the same thing at all. My wife of 46 years and I married for life. It is a lifetime contract, as far as each of us in concerned. (Others don't believe that marriage is a lifetime deal, but we do.)

My University and Cal had a business relationship that was mutually agreeable. It ended when one of the parties found something he wanted to do more. Cal never signed a lifetime contract.

The difference is that as a realistic fan, I said when Cal came that he was a top coach, and if you are at the top of the coaching profession, you have to leave if one of the "big names" calls you. I knew going in that if UCLA, Kansas, Ky, Duke or UNC called, Cal had to take the job.

If you though that Cal was here for life, despite any coach-speak he said about wanting to be here, then you were working under a faulty premise.

No, the relationship ended when one of the partners was discovered by the authorities to have been doing some incriminating. The criminal partner fled the partnership, and left his company holding the bag. FACT

It's been three years. People need to get over the way he left. It's a business.

That's not the way I run my business, or anyone I do business with. The man has no principles. He is a sociopath.

You get over it if you want to and we'll hold our grudge if we want to. For as long as we want to. Who are you to tell us what to do?
What makes you so special!

Understatement of the year.

And not just if they lose to Louisville.
If they lose in the championship game...I can tell you UK fans wouldn't be too happy with that either.

But if they lose to Louisville, it's doubly good because they will have to put up with the Cards razzing them in their own state for who knows how long. Sweet. I can't even imagine the meltdown. Do you think they will burn their couches and dressers in the street?

Fish do you have a selective memory?

If you're going to compare that Roy Williams left KU vs. Calipari left Memphis then you need to do more than just throw the subject out there.

Roy Williams made it a point to say he wouldn't take any recruits with him and wouldn't recruit any kid at UNC that he did while at KU.

Can you say the same about Calipari at KYU?

Did Roy Williams try to dictate who KU replaced him with?

Can you say the same about Calipari at KYU?

I hated KYU before Calipari left for the job there.

Its hard to compare either of those situations realistically though. It was a business decision for Cal and he had no personal attachments to either school considering his actions and personality. With Roy, it was a personal emotional decision based on him getting the opportunity to coach his alma mater while being forced to leave the school he loved in KU. The money wasnt ever an issue with Roy. He didnt leave KU for UNC because it was a better job.

People can hate on coaches all they want but Ill never have anything hateful to say about Roy Williams, Coach K, or Tom Izzo. those guys are the utmost of class and coaching. One day hopefully Pastners name can be mentioned alongside them.

You're somewhat correct that the money wasn't the issue with Roy Williams. It wasn't with Calipari either because the offer from Memphis was higher than KYU. But; there were other reasons for both.

Roy Williams leaving KU for UNC and Calipari leaving Memphis for KYU are eerily similar.

They both left the school they were coaching knowing that a NCAA probation was about to hit their schools.

If each left prior to the announcement then their names wouldn't be "officially" credited with it happening during their terms.

Memphis wasn't on NCAA probation while Calipari was at Memphis. Nor; while Roy Williams was at Kansas.

Think about it; they both wanted out before the hammer came down.

Most of us with a brain recognize coach speak. Most of us with a brain know any coach worth a flip would leave here if the Kentucky job opened and he was offered. Cal can get at UK what he couldn't get here. A good big man with no drama. He had to take chances on players here. Some worked out, some didn't. He had to do it his first year at UK with Cousins and Wall. Davis, Gilchrist and Co are as good as players without the drama. The bottom line is most of the people hate Cal because of Mario Chalmers.

Not true. Even if Mario Chalmers had not hit that shot, they would have stripped Memphis of the title.
Recent history suggests the NCAA is not afraid to do this--they did it to a Big 6 power school USC in football.
That would have made it even worse for Memphis. We would be the only school in NCAA basketball history to have won a title and had it stripped.

I'm over it, I don't sit around fuming over Cal anymore...but I still don't like him and would rather see the other guy win.

I would be less forgiving if he had taken a page from the Roy Williams' book of changing jobs instead of raping and pillaging us on the way out.

Still not the same thing as the NCAA stripping USC's fake title.
