I have no idea what is going to happen but if the lineup below is as rumored, that absolutely is a good league.

1.) Butler
2.) Charlotte
3.) Dayton
4.) Duquesne
5.) Fordham
6.) George Mason
7.) George Washington
8.) La Salle
9.) Massachusetts
10.) St. Bonaventure
11.) St. Joeseph's
12.) St. Louis
13.) Rhode Island
14.) Richmond
15.) Xavier
16.) Virginia Commonwealth

That is a better, deeper overall league than several so called "majors."

If UIC or Loyola (IL) were having more success, their location in Chciago would make one of them a prime expansion candidate.

The A-10 is always going to be in the shadows of Big East. They share the same footpring extending from the northeast to the midwest. With that new lineup I would move the conference tournament to Dayton.

They're going to be even more in the shadow of the Big East when they move their conference tournament to Brooklyns new arena next year.

DU's president said "The A10 conference itself is on the verge of a major improvement with the addition of new high quality university programs. All of this amounts to an exciting professional opportunity for a new coach."

quality programs obviously excludes Seton Hall, DePaul, Providence, and St Johns

OUCH! Much better. now i can move on. I expected something like this post around # 4 or 5

College of Charleston is in too small of a market now unless other teams are added. I'm a student. Outside of Charleston, they have limited media presence (basketball is #2 in the Charleston area), and most of their alums are in SC and a few of the major Southern metros.

Only 11,000 students. Would be huge travel for every sport except for men's basketball. Maybe in another 5-10 years they could be a candidate. More likely for CAA.

Its difficult not to be in the shadow of the Big East these days, are there any cities left without a Big East team

That's why we're lucky to be in Massachusetts, where the Big East is completely and utterly non-existent.

The two other programs are George Mason and VCU.

Quote:Sources told CBSSports.com that VCU's Board of Visitors already has had at least two meetings about making the move, while Butler has negotiated with representatives of the Atlantic 10 for the league to assist financially for the Bulldogs to change leagues.

The three schools would help replace schools that are leaving the A-10. Temple is headed to the Big East and sources told CBSSports.com that Charlotte has received an “informal invitation” to the Sun Belt. The 49ers are starting up a football program in 2013 at the FCS level, but couldn't make a move to the FBS until 2015.

How much could an exit fee from the Horizon possibly be for Butler to need financial assistance. Maybe the A10 will use Temple's exit fee to help Butler out. The exit fee that the Big East is paying for... hahaha thats what they get... stupid Big East.

I don't think it's moving expenses so much as not-moving expenses. As in, Brad Stevens not-moving somewhere else expenses. The A10 would have an interest in that.

Brad Stevens signed a 12 year contract through the 2021-22 season. Doesn't look like he's going anywhere for a while.

contract extension
