MAC Tournament Semifinals
Two very intriguing match ups...

Kent State vs. Akron
Ohio vs. Buffalo

Who do you think will be playing in the championship??

I'll go with Kent vs. Buffalo.

Don't see either Akron or Ohio beating Kent or Buffalo for the third time this season.

Obviously, I ‘m pulling for the Flashes. But objectively, don’t know. To win this thing, they are going to have to put together two games in a row that they haven’t all season.

It should be a great night for basketball. These are the four MAC teams that deserved to be there in the end.

RE: MAC Tournament Semifinals
If the two worst teams didn't even get into the MAC tourney, would that hurt anyones feelings? I don't think an 11 or 12 has ever won the MAC? You could do the 10 vs. 5. 9 vs. 6. 7 vs. 8. Winner of the 5-10 would play 4. Winner of the 9-6 would play the 3. Winner of the 7-8 would get the 2. And the MAC regular season champ would the only team rewarded a bye until the semi's. Makes the tourney a game shorter, penalizes you for sucking, and grants great reward for winning the regular season. Do-in the divisions all together... they don't mean squat in the tourney anyways.

Are you kidding?! The 11th seed CMU took out the mighty BGSU Falcons in MBB. We were this close to a run.

I just realized men and women beat BGSU this tourney. But yeah, your point is well taken, maybe even the bottom 4 seeds stay home.

I don't like this year's format. The lower eight seeds have to win five games, while the top two seeds only have to win two? Too big a difference, as far as I'm concerned.

I kinda like UofToledoFans idea for a better format. Big improvement over this year's, IMO.

I think we'll have a rematch of the 2010 title game.

Normally I would talk about how hard it is to beat a team 3 out of 3 times in a season but I was at the Q (or was it still the Gund?) in 2005 so...

They should follow the format the B10 uses with 12 teams...just give the top 4 seeds a 1 game bye...but I think the reason the MAC is doing it this way is increase the probability that a top 4 seed wins the tourney, thereby giving more hope of a strong team making a deep NCAA run (as opposed to a low seed having a good day-its unlikely for a low seed to win 5 games)

Definately lived up to the hype for both teams. MAC should be very pleased at the performance of its top 4 teams. Two exciting games.

I liked Steve Mix on this topic last night during the Akron/Kent game:

"If you want to be here, get better players."

If they keep this format, I can't wait for the year that the 2-5 seeds in the conference have the same record, one of them has to play 5 games to win it all, and another only has to win 2, then the B!tching will really begin!!! The new tournament format is a joke.

You could say that about any championship game, regardless of format, couldn't you?
