I came across this on another forum and thought it was interesting. It ranks universities by state in terms of the dollar amount of donations each school reported in 2011. Obviously we've got a long way to go to close the gap with OSU, but we far outpace the other colleges in Ohio.

Does anyone know how this compares historically? We brought in nearly twice the donations as the next highest public university, Akron, and 4 times the donations as Miami.

I also saw in the latest USN&WR that UC is the most selective 'national university' in Ohio now (which excludes the liberal arts schools like Oberlin, Kenyon, etc.) Interesting.

That's weird, because a year or two ago they were at 40%.

40% would be some pretty good company. Michigan admits 50%, as a comparison, and is one of the most highly regarded public institutions in the country.

Where is Case Western in Ohio located? Is this a very highly regarded school? How are they able to get $85M in donations?

Case Western is located in Cleveland. It's an urban private school that is very well respected. As a private school, it relies on donations to fund its operations so no surprise that its donations are so high. It's ranked #38 in this year's USN&WR. I was surprised to see that their acceptance rate is 66% which is higher than ours.
