Weed Wars on Discovery Channel
Interesting premier last night about Cali's largest med. Cannabis outlet in Oakland. It grossed 24 million last year. A lot of the show dealt with the city extorting 1.1 million out of them in taxes and only giving them 3 months notice. The sheer gall of these politicians never ceases to amaze me.
One of the things I did not know was that these outlets are "not for profit" organizations and must return excess profits to charities.

I'm not sure how this show is going to be taken by the public at this point.

I thought that was total BS the way the council acted. I just stumbled on that show at half time of the basketball game I was watching but it was pretty interesting.

The tax board seems to believe that it had the power to retroactively impose the new taxes. The city council evidently voted this in but there is a question as to if they meant the new structure to be retroactive. I have a feeling this is going to end up in court. Meanwhile the business is basically being extorted from until this gets settled. I am surprised they just did not tell Oakland to go to hell and move across the bay.
