I think the 1987 (60-40), 88 (66-15) and 89 (47-9) games cemented their hate for UH. On the same playing field UH can compete and out play them at all sports, they don't like that. I think UH in the Big East makes their ass pucker up because they know what's going to happen again.

Note: I am not a UH alum, just fan that has lived here all my life and seen the ridiculousness that is UT and their fans.

Let's be real for a moment: Make no mistake, if West Virginia had turned down the Big 12's offer, Louisville would have taken their place in a nanosecond. Similarly, had the Cardinals declined, Cincinnati would have gladly filled that void. The same goes for Pitt and Syracuse vis-a-vie the ACC. If Pitt had said no, or even hesitated as Syracuse did in 2003 before Virginia Tech jumped them in line, UConn or Rutgers would be in the ACC right now and Pitt would have been out of luck.

The Big East was/is only in line for an especially large payday because it is the lone AQ league whose rights are up during a time when mighty NBC is launching an all sports network that it hopes will eventually compete with rival ABC's monstrously successful family of all sports networks. In other words the Big East's relative value hasn't increased, only its good fortune. Over time that will more than even out.

You are right...I didnt realize Houston had an enemy like that. UT always gives some generic answer as to why they dont want too many Texas schools in the Big XII. I am thinking, why would'nt you want these other schools. Travel expenses and all being what they are...

TCU, I could care less about but I honestly feel bad for West Virginia. UT will leave this conference some day and take the Texoma 3with them to the PAC. Since Tech fired Leach, I have only bought tickets for the TicketCity Bowl against Northwestern. Kirby Hocutt, Tech AD, will have to anwser to former season ticket holders like myself and wonder why the masses are staying away.

If I can find away to get away from family duties on Saturday, I will order my tickets thru Baylor and sit in the stands with a bag over my face ala Saints fans in the 80's and 90's.

Tech, Hance and Tuberville have lost this alum. I won't be back until tubby is fired regardless of on the field success or lack there of.
