RE: Would you fire Ruff?
Well maybe its the frustration from the past 2 years... Maybe waiting for another year is a smart thing if we were to fire him/

This. Anybody that thinks he should be fired needs to study our roster this year and think long and hard about what they would do. Consider the injuries sustained before the season even began and the injuries we've suffered since. We don't have enough talent, experience OR depth in the SR and JR classes right now. Ruff has piece mealed 2 seasons together. We got spoiled on the B2B CUSA championships. It runs in a cycle and we're in a down cycle. It's that simple.

this. Ruff is also here for the long term and not going to "microwave" things. That's the thing with Skip and coaches before logan. They were looking to go somewhere else. if we give ruff time to get his players, and get some depth and a program built, because regardless of our history, he's building a program, he can get things established. I think too many people also forget that ruff also has only had 1 recruiting class that's truly his. I think we definitely give him next year and we need to go bowling and be in the hunt for cusa east.

He will get one more complete year unless it starts getting a lot better. This is trash and noy acceptable.

I don't care about that not microwaving garbage. His teams get worse as seasons go along. Well coached teams would do the opposite. He will get one more year, but if we miss another bowl game he won't get a 4th.

Bonds, I'd agree if it were the same guys playing, but we're playing with a mash unit on the OL and football games are won and lost in the trenches.

I'm with you on the bowl game next year. If we miss a bowl next year, we need to go another direction.

We know your pain, ECU. Both of our schools were talking of 9-3 or better seasons before the start of the year, and now we're both 4-6 with some baddd losses and sketchy wins.

In the end, both of our squads were underpowered this year. I know we lost a lot of seniors on defense and our entire receiving corps, and you guys are still building a defense.

I think if we won South Carolina and VA Tech our confidence would take us through the season maybe a 2-3 loss team

We're right where I thought we were aside from the UTEP win. Actually we traded win/loss with Navy. I thought we'd lose that one and beat UTEP.

I don't know what ECU fans honestly were believing we'd win 9 but I'd like to have some of what they're smoking. I was thinking 8 would be the absolute max.... and that was before we ended up with players having season ending injuries before the season started. Realistically I think 7 was an achievable goal and I guess it still is.

We don't have the personnel for that. Our running backs can't plow through tackles and our only player similar to a TE has been hurt all year.

Well, that sucks then...your squad's defense doesn't have the depth to have a starting QB in an allegedly high-po offense throw for under four yards an attempt and send the defense right back on the field, either. Ruff should have left "well enough" alone. I hate the spread[/quote] for some reason.

RE: Would you fire Ruff?
The spread requires a lot of depth and talent at receiver AND in your secondary. USM had very little talent in its secondary when Fedora first got there. It was a total change in ideology for USM fans going from smash-mouth, ball-control of Bower to the hurry-up spread of Fedora. Changing our DC this past off-season seems to have helped as well.
