If it had worked, it would have been a brilliant play.

When I re-watch the game I'll look if we've tried it before with very short distance to go.

It failed because it was the wrong call at the wrong time against the wrong team! Thier DB where faster than our blockers the whole game it hadn't a chance of succeding. You have to try and punch it in using all 4 downs and if you can't they will at least have 99 yards to go and you have a very good chance of getting a safety. Any play that scored would have looked BRILLIANT. The safest, the best and the one with highest probability of succeding was to punch it in behind your bigger stronger Oline or at least try going over the top!

The pitch was the wrong call, but we couldn't have run four plays. We had to kick the FG to take the lead.

By the way, the long FG attempt right before half didn't affect the outcome of the game.

It gave them momentum! Take the knee run out the clock no MO!
