I've been in his corner up to today. But, is there any reason to hope things are going to change for the better? Cubit-Season 7# is starting to look an awful lot like Gary Danell's last season. An awful lot.

I disagree. They look like every other Bill Cubit season. Big moment mediocre results. We may still get 7 wins but thats sort of where we are. 5 to 7 wins and no Division titles.

Shut out in the first half, and 1 TD the whole game against EMUgly, and you're suggesting the defensive staff dust off their resumes? I got a nice view of that debacle from the 50 yard line today, and can tell you with certainty that the defense gave the O every opportunity to take control of the game, and the O repeatedly came up short. This loss was 99.9% on the offense. This unit looks just plain bad right now - no confidence.

It's Carders fault, % aside, he's not getting it done! I want him swapped out NOW. This needs to be done ASAP!!! How much longer are we going with a kid who makes these kinds of lame decisions?!?! His reads were awful, his audibles were just flat out wrong calls, and the decision making and leadership just isn't there.

I want him out. Not just benched, expelled from WMU.

Remember this article about how fans shouldn't be calling for Cubit to be fired? http://www.mlive.com/broncos/index.ssf/2...rustr.html

As a fan, I'm still frustrated. We need a change.

I must be forgetting the part where we are a powerhouse program and we are supposed to go to top notch bowl games every year.

RE: Fire Bill Cubit???
With a coach, it's basically fulfilling the potential, much like a player is expected to. It's about covering the stuff that falls on a coach, whether you end up 4-8 in a season or 8-4. It's not JUST about "hey, we're a MAC team, don't go crying because we should have won one more than we did".

For instance, if we somehow got 5-star linemen recruits, beat Alabama and beat UofM in the non-conference, but then went 4-4 in the MAC + lost to a D1-AA team, and ended up 7-5, you couldn't say "Hey, we're not supposed to be a powerhouse". Well, we aren't supposed to be so unfulfilling of expectations, either.

If we have the best D he's coached so far (as he said as season began), and give up close to 120pts in 2 games, and give up closer to 450yds/game than 400yds a game, while still having the MAC Defensive player of the year on the squad -- yeah, there's a big problem there.

In the end, if there's too much inconsistency and/or penalties past your 1st year, unless you got a Great record and are a Conf-champ contender, your seat should not be cold if the university puts a good amount of resources into it's football program.

But assuming we don't get stomped by Purdue (which we shouldn't), I'd say his seat should be lukewarm and basically left to next year to be more consistent as team execution goes, and/or have a great record.

If we were trying to be the next CMU dominating force under BK & Butch Jones, I would say his seat should be hot. But I'm not that pushy -- I just want to see consistency of team execution, and as long as we have winning seasons and the occasional BCS-team-upset, I'm fine (with mediocre MAC winning-team).

Are you content with a 7-5 record? No MAC Championship?

We lost like 3 games by a total of 12 points. That isn't coaches fault. One play here, one play there we are 10-2 with a MAC Championship. Players play, coaches coach. Games are won on the couches and message boards.
