I'm fully aware that ULM fans complain. Cajun fans complain back. However, when a thread is started like this, I do find it ironic that you guys are the more aggressive ones with all the name calling and stuff, when you started it (specifically referring to this thread, and the other one currently being commented on...I would guess that ULM started it in the very, very beginning). I really don't care what you call yourselves either. I'm just saying that the way you guys go about it is not the most effective way to garner good will. I'm really trying to be reasonable here.

I've stayed out of this pissing match because it really isn't worth the time.

Maybe we have different thoughts on reasonableness but when a request is made it is reasonable to honor it. Every other university in this conference has made a request for branding which has been honored. Except mine.

Because one school in our conference thinks its not enough to insure its brand but that they also must insist that ours be denied. That's not reasonable.

I fail to see how we are the hypocrites when there's only one school that is asking to have its cake and eat it too.

I guess we have different thoughts on the definition of b-ing as well. I'm just saying that it goes both ways between you guys and ULM. I've been calling you guys ULL since I knew you existed, and so have a lot of people. I just don't think it really matters on an insignificant message board what people call the other schools, and (at least from what I've seen) it has been a while since a ULM fan complained on this board about the use of UL. It is usually the Cajun fans complaining that someone used the incorrect name. This will be the last thing I post on this. You get the last word if you so choose.

I seem to remember about a year ago that Mr. Fuitak (yes, I can spell his name correctly because I didn't go to ULL) commented in his column that he was getting tired of hearing from both ULM and ULL fans about what to call the Cajuns. He has gone to calling them Louisiana only because he was pummeled with more emails and phone calls from Cajun fans, as well as the school itself, than he was from ULM supporters. Now that he's made that decision he's hearing more from ULM fans because the ULL folks are happy and have no reason to complain. Believe it or not, he was pressured more by ULL folks than the fans from ULM. Fuitak got ULL to stop bothering him, now he's wanting ULM fans to leave him alone, too.

What we or any one else calls us should be the absolute bottom of the barrel of your concerns.

Reasonable explanation. However, when attempting to make fun of the Cajun fans for not being able to spell the authors name, you shouldn't make the same mistake. It is FIUtak. The only reason it stuck out to me is because he made a point of saying that he had a special bond with FIU because of his last name one year. Now the thread can be moved to the smack forum, where it belongs (and hopefully die a swift death just like all other name game threads).
