RE: Meat Markets in Memphis
Got a couple prime 8 oz filet mignons and a couple potatoes from fresh market tonight that cost me about as much as it would cost to go to huey's and get a couple burgers with fries. The steaks were excellent.

RE: Meat Markets in Memphis
For steaks (Most cuts), ribs, and school pizza's charlies meat market rocks. I buy my competition ribs at Charlie's and the steaks we enjoy for tailgates. I wait for Kroger to do there bi-yearly whole rib-eye sale and get a nice whole rib-eye sliced for cheap and it lasts the misses and me a while. For chicken it depends on what I'm cooking. Thighs and legs I go back and forth between Kroger and Sam's depending whats on sale. For competition chicken i go to the Fresh Market for my meat. For breast meat I usually buy a 10lb bag from Sam's unless I'm stuffing it or doing something special then I go to the Fresh Market. Pork ... well lets talk. Pork Chops I buy from Chalie's in a 5lb box. BUT for butts I usually buy by the case at Sam's. It's the same distributor but cheaper. For shoulders I make the drive to Fayette packing. Great price and service. Pork loins and Beef tenderloins I go to Sam's. Its a "big box" but you can not beat the price or quality usually. I did find some nice Beef tenderloins at Fresh Market last year for Memphis In May at a nice price and quality but it was pure luck. Now lets talk Seafood. If cost is not a option I say Fresh Market has the best quality overall. The Kroger on Mendenhall is improving and has some great seafood (fish) options. I'm lucky that the job I have lets me travel to the gulf coast. About twice a year I can get some really great shrimp at a good price that I can bring a cooler full back with me.

Fresh Market. Anybody remember a few years back when Channel 5 tested the local stores meats/fish for salmonella? FM was on of the worse.

I've had meat from both locations and never had any problems.

I'm hoping that this isn't the correct order for these pics.

What're you paying for Boston Butts now? A couple of years ago you could buy them for $ .89 a pound; now it's a dollar more.
