RE: Alabama game
"Alabama", the offensive and defensive lines are strengths, as are the receivers. As mentioned above, the biggest concern is if the starting QB would have to leave the game.

RE: Alabama game
Alabama, if you're looking for a player to watch, #5 SO. defensive lineman Roosevelt Nix would be one. Last year he became the first freshman to be named the MAC defensive player of the year in conference history. He was 11th in the NCAA in sacks and 4th in tackles for a loss. We lost a couple really good defensive players from last year’s team so it will be easier for teams to key on him so it would probably be quite a feat if he matched those numbers. Regardless he is a fun player to watch.
On offense #5 ain’t too bad either. That’s JR WR Tyshon Goode. In just two years at Kent he’s already 6th in school history in receiving TDs, and total receptions, as well as 7th in receiving yards. Of course small schools tend to have a rough time passing against big time BCS schools so it will be interesting to see how they get him and the rest of our WRs involved. As someone mentioned earlier, WR might be our deepest position.

Hope everyone coming down to Ttown has a safe trip. It's always fun to see opposing fans
Go to the Big Bad Wolf on the Strip. Best BBQ nachos you can fine (but the ones in the stadium concession stands are hellagood too)

RE: Alabama game
If you have Directv/Dish network I found this link that shows the channels the game will be shown on. Whether they will actually work on gameday I cant say for sure. All the games are listed on the directv guide.

I just spoke to Coach Hazell in the lobby of the team hotel. I asked him if he had a few wrinkles prepared for Alabama. With a wry smile on his face he said, "I think we have a few things that will give Alabama some consternation".

I think Alabama was consternated by Kent State's offense. Or maybe it was Kent State's offense that was constipated.

RE: Alabama game
Well, considering that Alabama may well have the best defense in the country, today's offensive showing shouldn't have surprised anyone. I mean, I wish I had a dollar for everytime over the last 35 years a Kent State offense didn't do much better, if any better at all, against a MAC opponent or a completely average out-of-conference opponent!

Just look at the size of Bamas players. We were way behind the 8-ball on this one.

RE: Alabama game
Back in 2007 when KSU traveled to No. 3 Ohio State the Flashes had 15 first downs and 223 yards of offense.
Today Kent had 89 yards of offense and -9 on the ground and only 6 first downs.
I sure hope this isn't a sign of the "new" offense were going to see.

RE: Alabama game
Who really knows, Sigmaflash? It's pretty difficult to compare performances four years apart against two different schools, especially against a defense like Alabama's. A good sign is having only one turnover, and that very late in the game, and only four penalties. Many Kent State teams that did move the ball in the past shot themselves in the foot anyway by huge turnovers and stupid penalties. I think we'll all get a better read on the offense when next week they play the team formerly known as the Southwest Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. They are more of a MAC level team.

You forgot to mention that we lost that game 48-3. At least we saw a TD today.
Besides, I'm not going to compare the offense from Hazell's first game as a HC to one Doug Martin had in the middle of his fourth season. But if I was tempted, would argue that I saw a few things that would make us an acceptable MAC offense in Hazell's first year.
What do other's think?

It's hard to evaluate a game that is such a mismatch. However I don't think is was a moral victory if there is such a thing.

The game was exactly what we all knew it would be... a boring farce.

The factor you forgot to bring into play: Eugene Jarvis.

RE: Alabama game
The next opponent, Louisiana, just got whupped 61-34 by 9th ranked Oklahoma St. The good news is that Louisiana gave up a whopping 660 yards. The bad news is they gained 330 themselves against a top ten (at least for now) team.
