From the few comments I remember from last spring's practices Weston did not look very good at all. I agree we shouldn't bash the kid...unfortunately MD put him on a pedestal after watching a youtube video of him throwing against JUCO defenses.

Like I said, sounds like the first day of practice was good and Martel Moore is going to be in beastmode this year.

Weston wasn't here until the summer right? So I believe this will be his first NIU spring practice and we'll hopefully get to see him throw some passes in the spring game.

It is somewhat important for him or Lynch to learn how to throw by next season. Or else Martel Moore won't be getting enough good throws to dominate with.

Yeah last summer...my mistake. And yeah Lynch needs to prove that he can throw this spring/summer.

Geez MD is severely missed on this board...every thread is about the man. He had a lot of followers I guess.

back topic...

Good for Grady....I hope he does well in practice and gets some opportunities.

Doeren is a much better interview than that goober Coach Kill.

We're talking about the first practice in spring without pads on. You're not going to learn a lot today.

The main thing I took out of that was it's good news about Moore, because we all know he had questions with the offense heading into spring ball. It also sounded as if Akeem was playing more RB than WR.

The last comments of that video makes me more than excited, that they are using the MAC Championship loss to motivate themselves.

I think it probably depends on what Weston ends up being.

I would think that Grady would most likely be put in before the true Freshman, although if he's really not learning the QB offense at all, it'd be hard for him to step in.

I havn't read the article on Grady moving to reciever, but seeming we have a new offensive staff with new sceme, he won't know a lick about playing quarterback half way through the season, my guess is he gets a few snaps in practice to act as fourth string so we don't have to travel four true QBs, I guess we will see. But I doubt this new coaching staff even wastes more than a couple plays a practice on a fifth year senior moving to receiver. Regardless of his athleticism, it's still a big move to receiver, he will need all the practice he can get to get playing time at a postition we are fairly already deep at.

I hope not. Things didn't work out too well in the past....why repeat what didn't work.

We will have 4 QB's on the roster Harnish, Lynch, Weston, and the freshman recruit from Indiana, McIntosh.

Between those 5 and Grady we're covered in the event of a Craig Harmon situation.

I could be wrong but wasn't Rose recruited with the hopes of moving him to DB?

So if you want to rip MD, rip him, but let's see Weston do something before we rip him.

DiNunno in my mind is slightly different because we actually saw him play, and it wasn't great.

One interesting nugget that I didn't see before...

“It was definitely different on a few fronts,” senior center Scott Wedige said. “This year we’re no-huddle, and that’s just a neat experience for all of us. I thought we picked it up pretty well, but we’ve got a long way to go.”
