MAC - Who's HOT, who's not
I did a little research yesterday and created a chart on MAC hoops teams, looking at their performance over the past 10 games, which takes everybody back to the final game of January, all the way through February and up to today. These are presented in a somewhat random order, although most of the contenders are near the top.

Although I did it for my own purposes, I thought I'd share it. Realize that this time period included the bracketbuster games.

Although it would be optimal if I waited until this final regular season is done, I don't forsee having the time to do the research. I may update the records, streak and so on but am not going to bother changing the off and def averages.

RE: MAC - Who's HOT, who's not
There's gonna be a showdown!!!!!!

That Toledo game really lit a fire under our guys. That was a horrendous loss, but it really served a purpose.

That stinkin Ohio is at it again. We beat them here but I hope we miss em in the Q, just cause. I know they say be careful what you wish for, but I still say we can beat Akron on a nuetral site.

A Charlie Coles team can never be taken lightly, especially in a tourney situation, and Kent State, well what can you say, the darlings of the MAC. 65% of the fans at the Q dressed in yellow.

I got a good feeling about us though. It aint no fluke that we finished
8-2. And we came one lousy Michael Porini rebound short of being THE hottest team in the MAC. The East teams shouldn't take us lightly because we come from the West. That would be a big mistake.

Excellent chart MHB-you the man.

And we lost the KSU game at the buzzer. Awesome job closing out a season; keep it going!

What happenned to Bufffalo?

We went 5-0 our 2nd team through the West.

I think their are at least 5 teams (KSU, WMU, Miami, Ohio and Akron) that have a shot at winning the MAC Tourney. Should make for a fun tournament!

Thanks for the info MHB, it looks like you spent some time doing this!

I think our Broncos have just as good of a shot as any other team. We are peaking at the right time and really playing team basketball. Teams are going to have a tough time trying to figure out who they should guard on our team!!!

Think of it this way - 2 seconds from OT and if that game goes our way, the Broncos would be MAC champs. Not to mention the turd laid at Toledo.

I sense that this is our year. The field is wide open, the Broncos are hot and seemingly still getting better. If I were a coach in the MAC, the one team I really wouldn't want to see right now is the Broncos.

We'll see if the confidence the team is now playing with translates into a "We're in it to win it" mindset, instead of "I hope we make it to the finals."

Like it or not, that is what separates a Kent State from the rest.

This Bronco team is 5 immature losses away from being a team whose record would demand more respect. Xavier, Loyola, Towson, Troy and especially Toledo. Those close losses hurt. Part of the learning curve and nobody knows how long it will take. 23 - 7 looks a lot different than 19-11 and this team was only 9 points short of that. Three possessions.

I hope students keep an eye on this group because I think something special is happening right before our eyes. They had better embrace it because this kind of convergence hasn't happened at WMU often.

I like our chances to WIN the MACC. This year.

RE: MAC - Who's HOT, who's not
This team's the closest thing I've seen since 2004 that reminds me of that team.

Not saying we're going to make the Tourney (tho I certainly hope we do...) but we're certainly coming together at the right time!

One stat jumps out also, Broncos 4-1 on road. Next best, Kent at 3-2.
We don't get shook up in hostile environs.

I think its apparent that the Detroit kids are bringing a swagger to this team it hasnt had in a while. Couple that with a skilled big man and an athletic wing, and you have some talent.
